DALEK ROLE-PLAYING NOTES

In the beginning, the Thals, a warrior race on Skaro, fought a thousand year war against the Kaled's, who were the teachers and philosophers of the planet. This war caused many mutations and degenerations in the young of both sides. One of the mutants was a brilliant Kaled scientist named Davros. He was paralyzed from the waist down and in his left hand when a Thal bomb hit the shelter he was in. Bitter because of his injuries, he decided that there should be a way to save the Kaled people from the mutations of the war and obliterate the Thal aggressors. To this end he created a mobile battlesuit that doubled as a life support unit to support the mutants. Using an anagram of the Kaled name, the Daleks wee born. Davros had the brains of the mutants surgically altered so that they no longer felt emotions like love or pity, only hate and arrogence. Upon finding out about this, the Kaled scientists tried to stop Davros, so he helped the Thals destroy all that opposed him. He then led the Daleks in an attempt to destroy the Thals, so that only he and a select few scientists who were on his side would survive. However, the Daleks turned upon the scientists and the shot Davros as he tried to cause them to self destruct. In the first history, he was killed and the Daleks eventually became the dominant species in the universe. However, thanks to the Doctor, Davros was able to save himself, enabling him to try to wrest control away from the Supreme Dalek, causing the Daleks to split into two factions and preventing a future where they become the dominant species of the universe.

The Daleks are undoubtedly the most evil creatures the Doctor has ever had to fight. They are utterly ruthless, calculatingly efficient creatures that are bent on dominating the universe: their might and technology are such that they instill fear into other intelligent species. Time is no longer a barier to the Daleks, which can travel to a limited extent through time using taranium-powered machines.

Daleks are divided into two warring factions: pure strain and Imperial Daleks. Pure strain Daleks have grey and black armor and are lead by the Supreme Dalek, an abnormally intelligent mutant specially bred for the purposes of leadership. The Supreme Dalek is also known as the Black Dalek, because its armor is colored black. Pure strain Daleks seek only to exploit Davros's skills and do not acknowledge him as leader: to them he is only a resource of knowledge.

Imperial Daleks are the result of Davros's further experiments to breed infallible Daleks that are totally loyal to him. They have cream angold armor and are led by the new Emperor Dalek, which in reality is Davros in cream-colored Dalek armor topped with a spherical case that hides his true form.

All Daleks have no benign emotions because Davros biogenetically engineered these weaknesses from their minds, leaving them only with strong emotions such as hate, revnge, and cruelty. The weaknesses of the Daleks are that they are too logical and rely too heavily on their computers; they lost the abilities of intuition and inspiration.

Both factions use other species to compensate for their limited mobility. Ogrons are particularly favored because they are stupid but loyal; human mercenaries are used reluctantly because they are by nature treaturous. The Daleks also enslave the populations of planets they conquer to provide work forces to exploit mineral resources, especially in dangerous environments.
