The Time, The Place
Where and when each story is supposed to have taken place.
Notes:
All dates and locations are taken from transmitted episodes not novelisations.
All references to "the future" mean the future in relationship to when the story was broadcast.
All years are A.D. unless otherwise stated. "mya" means Million Years Ago.
An Unearthly Child:- London, late November or February/March, 1963
The date cannot be a weekend or a Friday (school next day), or a Monday or Tuesday (homework set for Tuesday, it would be "Homework Tomorrow" if set on a Monday). It is most likely, therefore, to be the 20th, 21st, 27th or 28th of November as it is definitely a winter month (dark evening), or maybe even February or March. Susan and the Doctor have been in London for some time. Susan states "the last five months have been the happiest of my life". This would suggest she and the Doctor arrived in June, if we accept the November setting, or September if the episode is actually set in February or March. Starting at Coal Hill School after the summer break would mean she was still enough of an enigma for Ian and Barbara to consider investigating her background in November though less likely if we accept the February/March date, unless Ian and Barbara have been harbouring their curiosity over Christmas. However, the later date would tie-in with the light evenings seen in Remembrance of the Daleks, which was supposed to be set a few weeks after the events of An Unearthly Child.

100,000 B.C.:- unidentified location, probably in Europe, Late Pleistocene Period
No location is specified, the date is implied by the story title - which was never seen on-screen. The tribe has to be Neanderthal as modern humans didn't venture out of Africa until about 50,000 years ago. The only inhabited parts of the world to experience extreme cold over the past hundred millennia are northern Eurasia, North America and southern South America. Neanderthals only ever inhabited Europe and the Middle East.

The Mutants:- Skaro, date unknown
No date is ever specified.

Inside the Spaceship:- the Tardis, unidentified point in space and time
It is never specified whether the Tardis is heading towards the Big Bang or merely the birth of a new solar system

Marco Polo:- Yüan (Mongol) Empire & Chagatai Khanate, 1289
The year and locations are specified.

The Keys of Marinus:- un-named island, Marinus, date unknown
No date is specified, although Marinus could've been colonised from Earth, in which case it would be the distant future.

The Aztecs:- Temple of Yetaxa, Mexico, end of November 1434 or beginning of April 1437
The Aztec Empire covered most but not all of central Mexico; roughly the modern states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Mexico, Michoacan, Morelos, Queretaro and Puebla, plus parts of Oaxaca and Guerrero. It lasted from 1372 until 1521, about two years after the first Spanish expeditions ventured into Aztec territory. Barbara estimated the date to be after 1430. The only total solar eclipses to take place over Aztec Mexico between 1430 and 1521 occured on 30th November 1434 and 5th April 1437.

The Sensorites:- Sense Sphere and orbiting spaceship, 28th Century
No precise year is actually specified.

The Reign of Terror:- Paris and nearby surroundings, France, 24th-27th July 1794
The Tardis landed about 12km north of Paris. This could either be in the vicinity of Saint-Ouen, 12km north of the Wall of the Farmers-General, or Saint-Denis, 12km north of the boundary of the département of Paris. 12km north of the centre of Paris would still be within the urban area. Robespierre stated "tomorrow" was 27th July the day before he was arrested. The Tardis crew had already been in Paris two days by then.

Planet of Giants:- somewhere in south-east England, c.1964
No actual location or date is ever specified.

The Dalek Invasion of Earth:- west London & Bedfordshire, c.2170
A calendar for 2164 is found in an abandoned warehouse but is obviously old, so the year can't be 2164. It is mentioned that the Daleks have been on Earth for ten years. The calendar, therefore, may have been left there since the original Dalek invasion.

The Rescue:- Dido, 2494
Vicki says the spaceliner left Earth in 2493, which suggests the year has moved on. She and Bennett have been on Dido for several months.

The Romans:- Assissium & Rome, July 64 A.D.
Assissium is the modern town of Assissi, some 70 miles north of Rome and the same distance from the coast. The Great Fire took place in July 64.

The Web Planet:- Vortis, unspecified future date
No date is indicated though mankind is said to have mastery of space.

The Crusade:- Palestine, late September/early October 1191
Richard arrived in Palestine in June 1191 and left in October 1192. He mentions to the Doctor that his brother John is planning to usurp his crown, which John did on 8th October.

The Space Museum:- Xeros, unspecified future date
Clearly in the future as there are exhibits from Earth in the museum.

The Chase:- Aridius, date unknown; New York, 1966; SS Mary Celeste, November 25, 1872; Ghana, 1996; Mechanus, unspecified future date
Aridius is identified but not dated. Morton Dill gives the year for the Empire State Building scene. The last log entry made on the Mary Celeste was dated 25th November 1872. A notice is seen for The House of Horror exhibit giving both location and year. No date is mentioned for the Mechanus episodes but it is obviously in the future.

The Time Meddler:- village on Northumbrian coast, September 1066
Hardrada's fleet gathered at the mouth of the Tyne, ravaged the Cleveland coast and razed Scarborough. It actually landed about 40 miles inland at Riccall, 9 miles south of York, after sailing up the Rivers Humber and Ouse. The village, therefore, is most likely to be somewhere between Middlesbrough and Scarborough.

Galaxy 4:- un-named planet in Galaxy 4, date unknown
The planet is never identified, nor is the date specified. It's not even clear if the planet is actually in Galaxy Four.

Mission to the Unknown:- Kembel, 3999 or 4000
Cory's tape is found by the Doctor some months later (in The Daleks' Masterplan).

The Myth Makers:- Troy and surrounding area, c.1240 B.C.E.
Archæological evidence suggests the date.

The Daleks' Masterplan:- Kembel, Desperus, Earth & Mira, 4000; Liverpool, 25th December 1965; Hollywood, c.1929; unspecified cricket ground, unspecified contemporary date; Tigus, date unknown; London, 1st January 1966; Egypt, probably during 4th Dynasty
The year 4000 is specified on several occasions and all four planets are named. The date for the Hollywood section is not specified but would appear to be late Twenties/early Thirties. The visit to Liverpool is definitely on Christmas Day. The cricket ground location is unspecified, it could be London, Melbourne, Sydney or any one of half-a-dozen other major test cricket venues in England, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. The visit to London is just after midnight on New Year's Day in Trafalgar Square, the Daleks state the year. The Ancient Egyptian episodes suggest they are set around the time orthodox history claims the Great Pyramid of Giza was built. Although pyramids are seen in the background, there is nothing to suggest that the building being constructed is actually one. It is refered to as a tomb in the script, and there is no archæological proof that the original pyramids were built to serve as tombs. The names given to the Egyptians are particularly vague and don't appear to refer to any specific individuals. Khepren (or Khafre) was a Fourth Dynasty pharoah from the early 25th Century BC, Tuthmos (or Thutmose) was the name of four Eighteenth Dynasty pharoahs of the 15th and 14th centuries BC, whilst Hyksos was the name of two dynasties of foreign rulers who reigned in the late 16th and early 15th centuries BC.

The Massacre:- Paris, France, 19th-23rd August 1572; Wimbledon Common, London, before October 1965
The assassination attempt on Coligny was on 22nd August. The Wimbledon Common date is suggested by Dodo commenting on the completion of the Post Office Tower in The War Machines. The Tower was opened in October 1965, therefore she must have left London some months earlier.

The Ark:- The Ark & Refusis, 57th Segment of Time
The actual length of each segment is unclear.

The Celestial Toymaker:- Celestial Toyroom, no date
The Tardis is taken out of space and time

The Gunfighters:- Tombstone, USA, 24th to 26th October 1881
The gunfight took place on October 26th.

The Savages:- un-named planet, distant future
The planet is never identified nor is the date specified, although the Doctor says they have "now reached the distant horizon of an age" which Steven and Dodo assume to be the distant future.

The War Machines:- London, July 1966
Obviously intended to be set in 1966, though the lack of World Cup paraphernalia is a mystery. July 12th is claimed to be a Monday, which was not the case in 1966 (when it was a Saturday).

The Smugglers:- un-named village, Cornwall, late 17th Century
The village isn't named and Polly only thinks it could be in Cornwall. It could just as easily be in Devon or Dorset, although the location shots were filmed in Cornwall. Mention is made of the King, so it's between 1660 (when the monarchy was restored under Charles II) and 1702 (when Anne succeeded William III). The fashions are late 17th Century.

The Tenth Planet:- South Pole Space Tracking Station, Antarctica, December 1986
The location is specified, the date is seen on a calendar.

The Power of the Daleks:- Vulcan, unspecified future date (before 2164?)
The date is never specified but must be before the events of The Dalek Invasion of Earth as no-one recognises the Daleks.

The Highlanders:- Culloden Muir & Inverness, Scotland, after 16th April 1746
The Battle of Culloden took place on April 16th.

The Underwater Menace:- un-named islet in Azores, just before 21st March 1970
The location is more-or-less identified. The date is estimated from the Mexico Olympics souvenir plate found by Polly. Mention is made of the approaching Spring Equinox.

The Moonbase:- The Moon, 2070
The year is mentioned on screen.

The Macra Terror:- un-named planet, distant future
Neither place nor time specified though it is clearly in the future.

The Faceless Ones:- Gatwick Airport, 19th/20th July 1966
Ben discovers the date is the same as when he and Polly left London with the Doctor in The War Machines.

The Evil of the Daleks:- London, 20th July 1966; near Canterbury, Kent, 2nd June 1866; Skaro, unknown date.
The London section follows on directly from The Faceless Ones. Waterfield states both date and location for the scenes set in Maxtible's house.

The Tomb of the Cybermen:- Telos, unspecified future date
The expedition is from Earth.

The Abominable Snowmen:- Detsen, Tibet, 1935
The year is quoted in the sequel, The Web of Fear.

The Ice Warriors:- Britannicus Base, Britain, unspecified future date
Storr, who is obviously Scottish, claims to have lived in the area all his life, thus locating the base in Scotland. Miss Garrett states it is on an island, Walters states it is by a mountainside. Although Britain is an island, its inhabitants rarely acknowledge the fact because of its size. In all likelihood therefore, the base is located on Arran or one of the major Hebridean islands. No date is mentioned but it is claimed that "5,000 years of history will be wiped out...", thus dating it anywhere between 2500 and 5000 A.D.
Recent studies have indicated that Europe could be subjected to severe glaciation around 3000 A.D. if global warming continues to run unabated, as meltwater from the North polar cap will cool the North Atlantic, diverting the Gulf Stream away from western Europe and the British Isles.

The Enemy of the World:- Kenowa, Australia & Budapest, Hungary, early to mid 21st Century
Both locations are mentioned. The date is never specified though it is clearly several decades beyond the 1960s.

The Web of Fear:- London, 1965
The year is extrapolated from the Brigadier's claim in The Invasion that his first meeting with the Doctor took place some four years earlier. Travers claims it is forty years after the events of The Abominable Snowmen, which he says took place in 1935. This is probably a wild approximation of the type many people make, especially as Silverstein stated he bought his Yeti from Travers thirty years earlier. Travers appeared to be in his late-thirties in The Abominable Snowmen. Forty years on would put him well beyond retirement age.

Fury from the Deep:- Essex or Suffolk coast, c.1970
Dutch government involvement (Van Lutyens) would suggest the rig is in the North Sea rather than the English Channel. The date isn't specified but is clearly contemporary.

The Wheel in Space:- Space Station W3:LX88J, 21st Century
The date isn't specified, although the century was identified in later stories.

The Dominators:- Dulkis, date unknown

The Mind Robber:- limbo, no date
The Tardis is again taken out of space and time.

The Invasion:- London, 1969
Isobel's room and fashions are definitely late-Sixties/early Seventies, whilst both civilian cars seen are pre-1963 (no year letter on the number plates). The Hercules transport entered RAF service in 1968. Lethbridge-Stewart indicates it is some four years since the events of The Web of Fear.

The Krotons:- un-named planet, date unknown

The Seeds of Death:- southern England & the Moon, late 21st Century
Approximate date mentioned.

The Space Pirates:- Beacon Alpha 4 and Ta, unspecified future date beyond 21st Century
Earth is mentioned in episode 1, after which it is referred to as the "home planet". Zoe, born in the 21st Century, has never heard of argonite.

The War Games:- un-named planet and Gallifrey, dates unknown
Because of the apparent lack of "wars" after World War I, the date must be around 1918, unless the War Lords are deliberately avoiding later wars for some reason.

Spearhead from Space:- Essex & London, 1970
The "meteorites" are reported as landing in the Epping area (of south-west Essex). The Brigadier's car dates from early 1967, as does the MG parked next to Dr.Beavis' car in the hospital car park.
All contemporary stories involving UNIT are regarded as taking place in the year of the original story transmission as implied by fashions, technology, cars etc.

Doctor Who and the Silurians:- Wenley Moor, Derbyshire, & London, 1970
Derbyshire is identified as the location of the nuclear research centre on a number of occasions.

The Ambassadors of Death:- southern England, 1970
The space centre could be the same one seen in The Android Invasion, i.e. Devesham.

Inferno:- Eastchester, southern England, 1970
Eastchester is mentioned in a radio broadcast.

Terror of the Autons:- southern England, 1971

The Mind of Evil:- Stangmoor Prison & surrounding area, southern England, 1971

The Claws of Axos:- eastern England, 1971
The location is implied by weather reports.

Colony in Space:- Exarius, 1st to 5th March 2472
The year is mentioned by Mary Ashe. The dates are confirmed by a calendar although the pattern is for 2471.

The Dæmons:- Devil's End, western England, April 30th/May 1st 1971
Although the location of Devil's End is never specified, some of the villagers have West Country accents. Aldbourne, where the location shots were filmed, is in Wiltshire.

Day of the Daleks:- Auderley House, Cambridgeshire, 12th/13th September 1972; Sector 1, 22nd Century
Auderley House is stated to be 50 miles north of London. Sector 1 has to be in the same location as the rebels' time machines operate on a fixed geographical position. The 22nd Century is specified.

The Curse of Peladon:- Peladon, unspecified future date

The Sea Devils:- HMS Seaspite naval base and surrounding area, south coast, England, & sea fort, English Channel, 1972
Most sea forts were built in the English Channel and Thames Estuary to defend against possible invasion during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Mutants:- Skybase 1 & Solos, 30th Century
The date is estimated by the Doctor.

The Time Monster:- Wootton, nr. Cambridge, Autumn 1972; Thera or Crete, c.1250 B.C.
The civilisation is definitely Minoan. Crete was the cradle of the Minoan culture, Thera was probably an autonomous off-shoot. It is certainly not Atlantis as it doesn't comply with any of Plato's descriptions. The date is that of the estimated demise of the Minoan civilisation.

The Three Doctors:- southern England, 1973; Anti-Matter universe, no date

Carnival of Monsters:- Inter Minor, after 1926
According to the Doctor, the SS Bernice went missing in 1926. Vorg's Scope was in use for several years before he acquired it.

Frontier in Space:- deep space, Earth, the Moon, Draconia & un-named planet, 2540
The year is specified.

Planet of the Daleks:- Spiridon, 2540
A direct follow-on from the previous story.

The Green Death:- Llanfairfach, Monmouthshire/Gwent, 1973; Metebelis 3, date unknown
Newport is said to be the nearest big town "but quite a drive away". Llanfairfach must be to the north-east of Newport as Cardiff and other large towns lie fairly close to Newport in all other directions. A calendar identifies the date as February 1972. However, both an ambulance and a milk van registered after July 1972 contradict this so the calendar must be an old one.

The Time Warrior:- research base, somewhere in England, 1974; western England, Middle Ages
The location is implied by Wessex Castle. The fashions are mediæval. English kings were fighting "interminable wars" in Britain, Ireland and France from 1067 until 1558, when Calais fell. Nobody mentions "Crusades" or the name of the King - besides, English soldiers were only officially involved in two Crusades. The earliest known firearm was invented in 1510.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs:- London, 1974

Death to the Daleks:- Exxilon, unspecified future date

The Monster of Peladon:- Peladon, unspecified future date
Takes place around fifty years after The Curse of Peladon.

Planet of the Spiders:- area around Mortimer, Berkshire, 1974; Metebelis 3, unspecified future date
Mike meets Sarah at Mortimer railway station. The Metebelis 3 date is several millennia after corresponding scenes in The Green Death.

Robot:- southern England, 1974
Follows-on directly from the previous story.

The Ark in Space:- Nerva Beacon, distant future
No date is identified though claims of "five thousand" and "ten thousand" years in the future are bandied about.

The Sontaran Experiment:- Earth, distant future
Same date as the previous story.

Genesis of the Daleks:- Skaro, date unknown
Probably about 1,000 years prior to The Mutants.

Revenge of the Cybermen:- Nerva Beacon and Voga, c.30th Century
Nerva Beacon is being used for its original purpose. The date is suggested from the Doctor's estimation of when Nerva was built (in The Ark in Space).

Terror of the Zygons:- Tulloch, near Inverness, Scotland, & London, 1975

Planet of Evil:- Zeta Minor, 37166
The year is seen on a grave marker, though it's not specified if it's A.D. or another era.

Pyramids of Mars:- southern England, 1911 & "1980"; Saqqara, Egypt, 1911; Mars, 1911
The 1911 date is confirmed by Laurence Scarman. The 1980 date is mentioned on several occasions but is contradicted by several other stories, not least Mawdryn Undead.

The Android Invasion:- Oseidon & Devesham, southern England, 1975
A calendar seen in the pub suggests the year is 1973, 1979 or 1984. 1973 is too early whilst 1979 and 1984 are contradicted by other stories. As the pub cash-drawer is full of freshly minted coins all with the same date, the calendar is dubious evidence but would tie in with Crayford's two year absence from Earth.

The Brain of Morbius:- Karn, unspecified future date
Solon is from Earth.

The Seeds of Doom:- South Bend Base, British Antarctic Territory, & southern England, 1976
All British Antarctic bases are in the unofficial British Antarctic territory.

The Masque of Mandragora:- Mandragora Helix & San Martino, Italy, between 1482 and 1499
No actual date is specified. Amongst Giuliano's invited guests are Leonardo da Vinci and his patron, the Duke of Milan. Leonardo was in Milan from 1482 until 1499 when the French occupied the Duchy and deposed the Duke.

The Hand of Fear:- southern England, 1976; Kastria, 150mya & 1976
The prehistoric date comes from the estimated age of the rocks Eldrad's fossilised hand was found in.

The Deadly Assassin:- Gallifrey, date unknown

The Face of Evil:- un-named planet, distant future
Mordee (as in Mordee Survey Team) is not necessarily the name of the planet. It could be the planet the expedition came from, the expedition's financiers, the name of the ship or even the leader of the expedition.

The Robots of Death:- un-named planet, date unknown
The planet is never named. Kaldor City is mentioned and may be a major settlement on the planet but not necessarily named after it.

The Talons of Weng-Chiang:- east London, c.1890
Set just after the Jack the Ripper murders of 1888.

Horror of Fang Rock:- Fang Rock, English Channel, c.1905
Vince mentions King Edward (VII), who reigned from January 1901 to May 1910, and estimates Reuben's tale of the Beast to have taken place in "the (Eighteen) Twenties" after Reuben said it happened eighty years earlier. Fang Rock must be off the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight as Palmerdale's yacht was travelling from Deauville to Southampton, a route which passes the Isle of Wight to the east. As the first electric arc lamps in lighthouses were installed as early as 1855 and Morse first demonstrated his telegraph machine in 1844, Reuben must be extraordinarily old to think either is a "new-fangled" gadget!

The Invisible Enemy:- Titan & Bi-Al Foundation, K4097, c.5000
The dating is based on the Doctor's observations.

Image of the Fendahl:- Fetch Wood, western England, 31st July 1977
The date is pinpointed by mention of Lammas Eve. The location is suggested by the locals' accents.

The Sun Makers:- Megropolis 1, Pluto, distant future
The Collector states several thousand years have passed since mankind left Earth.

Underworld:- spaceship R1C & un-named planet, date unknown

The Invasion of Time:- Gallifrey, date unknown
Takes place after the events of The Deadly Assassin.

The Ribos Operation:- Shur, Ribos, unspecified future date
Garron and Unstoffe are from Earth.

The Pirate Planet:- Zanak, date unknown
Earth is mentioned but it could be at any point in time.

The Stones of Blood:-Boscombe Moor, south-western England, 1978
The stone circle on Boscombe Moor is mentioned as being in "Damnonium", i.e. the modern counties of Devon and Cornwall.

The Androids of Tara:- Tara, date unknown
Probably in Earth's distant future.

The Power of Kroll:- Delta 3, unspecified future date
Delta Magna was originally colonised by settlers from Earth.

The Armageddon Factor:- Atrios, Zeos & "Planet of Evil", unknown date

Destiny of the Daleks:- Skaro, unspecified future date
In Earth's future some considerable time after Genesis of the Daleks and The Mutants.

City of Death:- Paris, 1979; Florence, 1505; Laurasia, c.400mya
The Paris date is clearly contemporary, the Florence date is stated by the Doctor. The prehistoric date is identified by the Doctor but the geological period is incorrectly named. The location is that of the combined North American/Eurasian landmass which existed at the time (long before the Atlantic Ocean first appeared).

The Creature from the Pit:- Chloris, date unknown

Nightmare of Eden:- spaceliner "Empress" orbiting Azure, c.2116
The Doctor claims to work for Galactic Salvage Insurance. Rigg finds Galactic went out of business "twenty years" before in 2096.

The Horns of Nimon:- Skonnos, date unknown

The Leisure Hive:- Brighton beach, England, c.1980; Argolis, c.2480
The Argolin-Foamasi War is said to have occured in 2440. Pangol states forty years have passed since the war (but are Argolin years the same as Earth years?).

Meglos:- Tigella & Zolpha-Thura, c.1980
The Earthling is clearly contemporary to around 1980. The Gaztaks do not have time-travel capabilities so the same date must apply to the rest of the story.

Full Circle:- Alzarius, date unknown
Terradon could be a corrupted folk memory of Earth (Terra).

State of Decay:- un-named planet, unspecified future date
The original crew came from Earth.

Warrior's Gate:- The Gateway, date inapplicable

The Keeper of Traken:- Traken, before 1981
Nyssa notices Traken has been obliterated during the events of Logopolis, which was set in 1981 (see below).

Logopolis:- London; Logopolis; Pharos Project, Sussex; 28th February 1981
The location of the police box is never specified, though it must be within the Greater London area for it to be owned by the Metropolitan Police. Tegan stated in later stories that she originally left Earth on 28th February 1981, so there's no reason to believe the rest of the story took place at any other time. The ambulance that arrives to take the Doctor to hospital (in Castrovalva) belongs to the Sussex Area Health Authority.

Castrovalva:- Pharos project, Sussex, 28th February 1981; Castrovalva, date unknown
The first episode follows-on directly from the previous story

Four to Doomsday:- Urbankan ship approaching Earth, 28th February 1981
The date is specified by the Doctor.

Kinda:- Deva Loka, 25th Century
The century is specified but not the exact year.

The Visitation:- Heath Row & Pudding Lane, London, 1st/2nd September 1666
The Doctor says the Tardis has materialised where Heathrow Airport will be built three centuries later. The Great Fire of London broke out on September 2nd.

Black Orchid:- Cranleigh, 11th to 15th June 1925
The first date is confirmed by the Doctor. George Cranleigh's funeral takes place three days after his death (on the 12th).

Earthshock:- unidentified caverns, Earth, 2526; spacefreighter approaching Earth, 2526 & 64mya
The location of the caverns isn't specified whilst the year is. The second date is that generally recognised as being when the dinosaurs were wiped out.

Time Flight:- Heathrow, March 1981 & 140mya
There's snow on the ground and Tegan is only a little late starting her job as an air hostess, so it's only just after February 1981. The Doctor identifies the prehistoric date but gets the name of the geological period wrong (again).

Arc of Infinity:- Gallifrey, date unknown; Amsterdam, 1983
The Gallifrey scenes take place some time after the events of The Invasion of Time. The Amsterdam date is obviously contemporary.

Snakedance:- Manussa, date unknown

Mawdryn Undead:- unidentified spaceship near Earth, timelooped: Brendan School, southern England, early June 1977 & 1983
The 1977 scenes show the schoolboys preparing to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee, which took place on June 7th, so it's most likely the weekend of June 4th/5th. No specific date is mentioned for the 1983 scenes but it is obviously during term time and most likely a weekend.

Terminus:- Lazar ship & Terminus space station, unspecified future date

The King's Demons:- Castle Fitzwilliam, southern England, 4th March 1215
The Doctor states King John should've been in Runnymede signing the Magna Carta. Castle Fitzwilliam is about a day's ride from London.

The Five Doctors:- Eye of Orion and Gallifrey, dates unknown
Has to be around ten years or so after the events of Arc of Infinity as the Castellan hasn't aged (although Borusa has regenerated again).

Warriors of the Deep:- Sea Base 4, Earth, 2084
The location of the base isn't specified, the year is.

The Awakening:- Little Hodcombe, southern England, summer (13th July?) 1984
The year is specified on a number of occasions. The precise date, however, is more ambiguous. Tegan is to be crowned Queen of May which suggests it's May Day. However, the War Games are to commemorate the Battle of Little Hodcombe, which took place on 13th July 1643. It certainly looks like July, although as the 13th was a Friday in 1984, Jane should have been teaching as it is too early for the summer break. It's more likely to be the 14th as the English tend to stage celebrations on the nearest weekend so as not to disrupt work.

Frontios:- Frontios, distant future
No date is specified though the Sun is said to have gone nova.

Resurrection of the Daleks:- south London, 1984; space station & Dalek ship, unspecified future date
The London scenes are clearly contemporary. The space station scenes are some ninety years after Destiny of the Daleks.

Planet of Fire:- Lanzarote & Sarn, 1985
The year is mentioned by the Doctor in subsequent stories. The scenes on Sarn are probably contemporary as this would tie in with Turlough's exile to Brendan School in or before 1983.

The Caves of Androzani:- Androzani Minor & Androzani Major, unspecified future date

The Twin Dilemma:- Titan 3 & Jaconda, 23rd Century
Romulus and Remus come from 23rd Century Earth, Azmael's ship doesn't have time travel capabilities.

Attack of the Cybermen:- London, 1985; Telos, unspecified future date
Lytton has been stranded on Earth for several months since Resurrection of the Daleks, and Halley's Comet is some months away from its rendezvous with Earth in 1986. The Telos scenes take place after the events of The Tomb of the Cybermen.

Vengeance on Varos:- Varos, c.2370
Takes place several years before Sil's return in The Trial of a Time Lord.

The Mark of the Rani:- Killingworth, County Durham, 1814
The Luddite uprisings took place between 1811 and 1816. The locomotive the Doctor is so interested in is Stephenson's "Blucher", which was built in 1814.

The Two Doctors:- un-named planet, date unknown; Chimera Space Station, 1985; Seville & surrounding area, 1985
The scenes in and around Seville are obviously contemporary. The scenes on Chimera have to be the same date as the Sontarans have only rudimentary time-travel capabilities.

Timelash:- Karfel, unspecified future date; Loch Ness, Scotland, 1885
The Timelash can only send people back in time. The year of the scenes in Herbert's house is mentioned.

Revelation of the Daleks:- Tranquil Repose, Necros, unspecified future date
Several years after the events of Resurrection of the Daleks.

The Trial of a Time Lord:- Time Lord space station, date unknown; Ravolox, distant future; Thoros Beta, 3rd July 2379; spaceliner Hyperion III, 16th April 2986
No actual date is specified for the Ravolox section beyond "millions of years in the future". The date of the Thoros Beta section is quoted by the Valeyard ("Third day, seventh month, fourth year of the last quarter of the 24th Century"). The Doctor quotes the date for the Hyperion III section.

Time and the Rani:- Lakertya, date unknown

Paradise Towers:- Paradise Towers, un-named planet, unspecified future date
The planet is never named, assuming Paradise Towers is actually built on a planet. There's no mention of the inhabitants' home planet.

Delta and the Bannermen:- Tollbooth G715, date unknown; Shangri-la Holiday Camp, south Wales, 1959
The Tollmaster mentions 1959 in relation to the trip to Disneyland. The tour bus was knocked off course spatially not temporally.

Dragonfire:- Iceworld, Svartos, distant future
Assuming Glitz was returned to his own time after The Trial of a Time Lord, this would have to be soon after the date of the Ravolox episodes.

Remembrance of the Daleks:- east London, December or April/May 1963
The Doctor states it is a few weeks after his original departure from Totters Lane (see An Unearthly Child). The light evenings would suggest an early spring date rather than late December, especially as there is no mention of Christmas.

The Happiness Patrol:- Terra Alpha, unspecified future date

Silver Nemesis:- Windsor and surrounding area, 23rd November 1988 & 1638
The date is emphasized on several occasions despite the fact it appears to be mid-summer.

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy:- Segonax, unspecified future date

Battlefield:- Lake Vortigern & surrounding area, south-west England, c.late 1990s/early 2000s
A round of drinks costs £5, which the Doctor pays for with a £5 coin. The £5 coin became legal tender in 1990 but is only minted in commemorative issues. After the £1 note was replaced by a coin in 1983, the £5 note was expected to be replaced at any time. Instead, the Bank of England introduced a £2 coin.

Ghost Light:- Perivale, west London, c.1883
It is mentioned that the house will be left empty for a hundred years before a 13 year-old Ace burns it down in 1983.

The Curse of Fenric:- Maiden's Point, north Yorkshire, c. early 1945
The imminent end of the war is emphasized. The Ultima machine is obviously based on the German Enigma machine, which was developed in 1944. The rifles carried by the Soviet soldiers were introduced in 1943.

Survival:- Perivale, west London, 1989; un-named planet, 1989
Ace has returned home to look up some old friends and has obviously been away for some time. The Cheetah People's planet is never named but has to be dated to 1989 as the psycho-kinetic transference is spatial not temporal.
