The Watcher

Name: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Born: Somewhere in Hampshire, England. Fall 1969.
Occupation: Watcher.
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Soundbite: "Are you... doing anyone, anything, tonight?" [Welcome to Bizarro World]
Description: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, not so long out of training in the Watchers' Council Centre, has been assigned to the current Slayer, Cordelia Chase. He also aided his fellow Watcher, Rupert Giles, in the education of trainee Slayer Faith, before taking over Giles' duties when the latter defected (Altered to Fit). He and Mr Giles shared little love for one another, even before the incident mentioned above.

However, their constant bickering disguised a grudging respect for each other and their abilities. In fact, as much dislike as the Watchers share, they may in fact have been closer (in former days) than most people ever become with another person. They worked together, share similar interests and duties, and are in fact so similar that they grate on each other's nerves.

Wesley is attracted to his charge, the gorgeous Cordelia Chase. At first, he believes it merely physical, and attempts to ignore his lustful feelings. It becomes impossible, however - especially when he realizes his feelings might just run a little deeper (Changes). He knows they can never be a 'couple' and so he tries to remain professional at all times. It doesn't work. By season's end, the two seem prepared, perhaps, to acknowledge a relationship - perhaps...

Wyndam-Pryce owns an apartment in a large complex downtown (see plan elsewhere on site). During school holidays, the Slayer Squad tends to associate here, where Wesley keeps many of his own private books. During school, however, they relocate to the library where Mr Giles works (or worked) - many more books are kept there (some stolen by Giles when he left).

The Watcher seems very accepting of changes to the standard format. Likely this is the influence of a certain Miss Chase. He readily agrees (well, almost readily) to allowing Faith to accept certain Slayer responsibilities (though she is not the Chosen One) and seems to easily accept new members into the Scooby Gang (You Can Always Come Back) - under the right circumstances at least. Flexible as he may become, however, he is still fairly rigid about important issues, certain protocols, etc.

It is not known at this time precisely what Wesley's educational background has been (though we know it was guided by, if not provided by, the Council), or just how extensive is his knowledge of Demonology (he doesn't appear to be as knowledgeable as Giles, though his studies are fresher in his mind than in the older Watcher). Likewise, nothing at all is known about his family. Certainly this information, if relevant, will be revealed at some point in the future.

Regardless, his abilities will be called into practice most urgently in the near future, in the search for the fabled Malgeveld among other things.

Technical: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce created by Joss Whedon, played by Alexis Denisof.
