I'm very clumsy. I'm constantly falling and knocking into things in front of others. But I'm really embarrassed when I forget someones Birth Day.

Greed knows no limits. Today I have this 3-bedroom apartment, tomorrow I'll want a penthouse, then a bungalow, then maybe a farmhouse. After becoming a film star, I have this urge to buy jewellery too. My needs are multiplying. But I'm not crazy about money. As long as my family is comfortable, it's fine by me.

I come from a really conservative background. My mother is such a simple soul. She never approved of me standing in front of the mirror and admiring myself. If she ever caught me wasting time at a dressing table, she'd fire me saying, "Sonali, don't you have anything better to do...?"

Today my job requires me to look in the mirror day in and day out. Maybe all my latent passions are being fulfilled here. Ha...!!

It isn't a cakewalk here, though. The film industry is far too matlabi. Too bad I haven't found true love yet. About the only romantic moments I've ever experienced are while reading Mills & Boon novels.

You are one of the prettiest faces in the Hindi film scene today. And you are a reasonably decent actress too. Which is why it’s pretty surprising that you don’t seem to have got your due, while actresses like Shilpa Shetty have author-backed roles in films like ‘Dhadkan’. My question to you is, how could you agree to play second fiddle to Aishwarya Rai, who’s come into the industry so recently. Doesn’t it bother you that you are nowhere to be seen in the promos of ‘Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai’, while Ash is hogging all the limelight?

Sonali Bendre: “A lot of people have been asking me this question. And my answer to all of them stays the same. The length of any role doesn’t matter to me. What’s important is the character I’m playing. I’m sure the makers of ‘Hamara Dil...’ have their reasons for promoting the film the way they’re doing. I firmly believe all that matters is that one hit film. Once you get that, anything you do is accepted. All the other actresses have had their turns at that, I’m now waiting for mine.
