TO MY
CHILD
from your mother
Day 1..there you are, so tiny and helpless
so perfect and pure.
Oh my how i am blessed
of nothing else, was I ever so sure.
Day 2..Today Grandma called and surprised me
"bring her home hon," she cried.
Oh what a wonderful life this will be
"Thank you God," I sighed
Day 3..Here we are at last
I was so young and foolish
I fed you too much and oh what a blast.
Sleep, sweet baby was my wish
Day 4..Well, we survived our first night
I had never felt like this before
I didn't know,
I didn't know I could touch the sky.
The days went by so fast and in such a whirl
As time drifted by, some things, oh how they changed
I was an adult but still a little girl
My heart, it was torn and I felt so strange.
I asked God one night as I cried,
"Dear God, what is in store for this mother at 16?"
I wanted you to have the best, and I tried.
3rd month..I knew in my heart that today was the day.
I packed your bags and put on your hat
Everyone said, "It's the best way."
I guess I have to admit, I already knew that.
I gave her the bags and she was on her way.
My heart, how it broke to see you cry.
I prayed and I prayed, "Dear God is this it?"
I cried so that I wished I could die.
I was allowed to visit every two weeks
Oh my how fast you grew
with your plump beautiful cheeks
and your eyes so shiny blue.
I couldn't believe what I saw each time i saw you.
I love you so much. My heart ached when i had to leave.
I would bundle you up with coat, hat, and shoes.
And she would take you into the cold breeze.
The Last Day..I came to visit you today for the last time
I knew on that day what I had to do.
You are so precious and I am 16.
I love you like none other ever before
My daughter,my precious, my gift so sweet.
I pray that you will look for me one day
for i will be waiting to see you once more.
There is in me,an empty space
that awaits that sweet baby girl to show up at my door.
As you grow up please know this,
in numerous amounts
You blessed my life and gave to it a gift.
I pray my love reaches you on this very night
That my prayers and hopes and dreams
will in your heart shine bright.
Goodnight sweet baby with her eyes of shining blue
and know that we love you.
from a birth mother.
