Wire Wheel Cleaner

Having struggled with the time-consuming task of cleaning Kelsey-Hayes wire-wheels since first owning a set in 1961, I eventually concocted a "home- brew" to finally achieve that
sparkling end-result.

My
magic-potion included warm water, a liquid dish-washing compound, a dish-washer rinse, agent and a powdered washer compound. While the weird mixture did provide excellent results, the project was long and tedious in that a soft-brush (with plastic handle) was required to work the cleaning solution into the spokes and hub areas.

We now fast-forward to 2001 with a quantum leap to an amazing spray-on product
-Mothers Wheel Mist -which retails for about $6.00. The product is advertised as a One Step Wire Wheel Cleaner and you simply spray on the Wheel Mist and wait a minute or two for the "foaming action" and then, hose-off the wheel!

The former back-breaking task is now reduced to a matter of a few minutes per wheel -with almost instant results! Truly, a fantastic cleaner.
