Overheating Problem Explained
John, while observing your T Bird I noticed the most basic cause of all your over heating problem complaints; the engine is positioned much too far forward. The fan is stuffed all the way into the fan shroud. No T -Bird with the fan stuffed all the way into the shroud has a chance of running without overheating problems.
The fan should be positioned so that no more than 50% of its depth is in the shroud. Yours is 100% in the shroud. A fan that is positioned all the way in the shroud can only perform as a screw fan, much as a boat engine propeller. A fan operating in this fashion is very inefficient. A fan with 20% to 50% of its depth into the shroud performs like a centrifugal fan slinging air off the tips of the blades allowing it to draw a much greater volume of air through the radiator.
I provide this information so that you may be able to fix it someday. Fixing it is not easy because the exhaust system is the controlling factor to the position of the engine. The engine mounts are positioned on slots or elongated holes. With the exhaust system removed the engine can easily be returned to its original position. The only other thing that will need to be readjusted is the rod on the shifter assembly.
Someday when the exhaust system must be replaced, move the engine back all the way as far as it will go. Your overheating problems are likely to disappear like magic!
