Smoky Rubyspot
These images are arranged in chronological order by month and date, but ignoring year (some are from 2002, some 2003). Of course, most of these were taken prior to Nick's request so i wasn't particularly trying to show full wings. I have no pictures, although many records, from months prior to August either year. I will be making an attempt to do so in 2004, as well as continuing to photograph them the remainder of this fall. None were present on 26 October 2003, when the high reached 57 degrees (although an American Rubyspot was present). A number of American Rubyspots, Dusky Dancers, and Comanches Dancers were active on 27 October 2003, at 72 degrees, but no Smokies were found. All of these pictures were taken at my place at Camp Rio Vista, Rio Vista Crossing, Cade Loop, off Texas 39, along the main Guadalupe River, Kerr County, Texas; with one exception, which is so identified. I also suspect that i have some other pictures yet uncovered, and will post them here if i find them.
