Sears Point Raceway

The Toughest track to win at. Twelve turns with speeds reaching as high as 130 mph and as slow as 30 mph. The only positive (that I can see) is that most people don't like Sears Pt. That means you can score well here with a little practice and concentration. Good Luck.

Tips

Memorize each turn. I know, easier said than done.It is imperative that you know what is ahead and behind you. That is the only way to race this course competitively. How do you memorize the course? Race, practice...get as much seat time as you can. Remember what happened to Jerry Nadeau at this years race? Off the track on the first turn. It happens so fast.

Slower is Faster

Sound stupid? Backward? Not here in wine country. Rushing into a turn and ending up in the wall certainly is not the fastest way around this track. In the same vein, Rushing into a turn and having to slow the car down so much that you are not set up for the next turn is also not the fastest way around. Keep your cool. I know you want to 'drop the hammer' on the straightaway's but it may not be in your best interests, especially if a retaining wall is in your future.

Tire Wear, Shocks, and Fuzzy Dice

Most of your tire wear will come from turns 6 (the carousel) and 10 a very fast corner at the end of a long straightaway that leads to another long straightaway. Follow Goeff Bodine's advice here: The softer the shock the better. Throw a couple of Fuzzy Dice on the rear view mirror for good luck (can't hurt!).

Pit Strategy

You may think that you are the worst driver in the world when you are racing at Sears Pt. (and you may be) but that shouldn't discourage you. You can still make the best of a bad situation by using sound pit strategy. Try stretching pit stops as far as you can. Or, short pit if you get a timely caution. Bodine won a race like this, and you can too. Don't pit for damage uless it is wheel damage. Most cosmetic damage won't slow you down too much here.
