Tightening up your T2

As we (sim racers) all know, the only thing between yourself and the game is your trusty input device. Now, whether that is a keyboard, joystick, or the Thrustmaster T2, you can't win if your input device is ailing. Today we will be focusing in the T2.

If you have had your T2 for any amount of time, you know that it is an awesome piece of equiptment. You also probably know that the more you race, the looser the steering becomes. It seems to have more play in it. Generally this is caused by a stretching of the bungie cord that provides resistance for the steering wheel. Today I will show you a way to keep that bugie cord tight.

You will need the following tools.
1-phillips head screwdriver (small)
2-plastic zip ties (2 or 3)

(1) First you will take off the cover to expose the inner working of the T2. (fig 1)

(2) Next, with the bungie cord exposed, find the ends of the bungie cord (which shoud already have zip ties on each end). In fig. 2, the bungie cord is outlined in red.

(3) Pulling the bungie cord from one end, make sure there is very little play and then wrap one of you zip ties around the folded end of the bungie cord. (see fig. 3)

As you can see in fig. 3, the new zip tie will keep the bungie cord tight, providing more resistance, keeping your steering mechanism in a more balanced state.

This balanced state will help keep your car at a zero point (or the midpoint), when you are not in a turn.

(4) Finally, repeat step 3 doing the same for the opposite side of the bungie cord. This will ensure a smooth transition between turns and straightaways.

Note - Occasionally, the bungie cord in the t2 has been known to break. If this should ever happen promptly email Thrustmaster. They are usually more than willing to fixed a 'busted' t2. You may have to pay for shipping but it is worth it.
