Adjusting the qualifying times for the AI:
This week we are once again going to be using the .txt file. Once again, all you will need is a .txt file from any given track (I chose Richmond) and a text editor (you can use simple text, as I did).
Have you ever been racing at a track where you just couldn't find the right balance between race strength and qualifying strenght. This is a common problem for many people. If you turn the opponent strength too low then you qualify well but racing is not realistic, but if you make it too high, then you qualify lousy and have to fight traffic all day (actually, this is good practice). Well, now you can keep the opponent strength at a decent level for racing but slow the AI down in qualifying.
When you open the .txt file you want to look for the BLAP line. This is where we are going to be making our adjustments. In the original richmond.txt file (figure 1) the BLAP number is 22957. This number is actually a lap time (22.957 seconds). To slow down the AI, increase this number slightly. Tip: Do not work in seconds. Change hundredths or thousandths of seconds. As you can see in figure 2 I changed the BLAP from 22957 to 22960. This is a process that may take multiple changes to get tweeked to you liking.
Remember, as you get better you can also speed them up! Also, If you are running in a racing league, I would suggest overwriting this before you league race with the original .txt file. Just to keep everything fair.
