Setting up for "the Rock" is not a difficult task. Many of the provided set ups will work fairly well. Racing at the Rock is a different story. You can expect close quarters and a lot of bumping and grinding. Remember, rubbin' is racin'. Keep you nose clean, and in tact, and you will have a good finish.

Things to watch out for:

Green Flag: At the drop of the green flag you want to get the best run you can, naturally, but if you are not on the front row then be ready to check-up because if you are not ready then you will have a grill full of somebody and your day will be shot, quickly.

First few Laps: Take it easy for the first few laps. Obviously, you want to make up as many positions as you can as quickly as you can, but don't push it too hard at the start. Let the field spread out a little (5 laps). It will make passing and driving easier. The potential for disaster is always a turn away. Keep your eyes open.

Making your move: Passing is easy at Rockingham, if you have a good run on the car in front of you, you can easily slide under them entering either of the turns. Caution: Don't drop too low (to the flat part of the track). Invariably this will bounce you up the track, if you are not careful, into the next car.

Exiting the turn: When you do make a run on another car, make sure you finish the move by sliding up the track toward the wall. This will allow you to block the other car, sealing the pass. Caution: Keep an eye on your mirror-the AI cars have a tendency to have good runs off the corner which can seriously hamper your ability to finish a pass. It can also cause you to wreck.

The Groove

Enter turn one about one lane above the bottom of the track, sweeping down as low on the banking as you can and still hold the car through turns 1 and 2. Let the car drift up the track as you exit turn 2, and then ride along the outside wall down the backstretch. The line through turns 3 and 4 is the same, except that you have to deal with the dogleg down the frontstretch.

The Pit Window: There are usually only two reasons why you pit: tires or gas. At the Rock, you usually pit for tires before gas. The AI begins pitting around lap 60. If you can go a full load of fuel before having to pit then you will have a huge advantage.
