When you unload your car at Darlington, you should have one thing one your mind. Setting up the car for turns 1 and 2. These turns, and your ability to set the car up for them will decide how competitive you are at this historic track.

Keys to Darlington:

Entering the turns: According to the chart below, you should enter turn one at185mph and leave turn two at 170mph. This is tough to do unless you have the car set up perfectly. In the middle of these turns , your speed should drop into the upper 150's. Anything above 150 mph will allow you to keep enough speed to turn laps at or around 170 mph depending on traffic.

Passing: With ample horsepower you should be able to pass by the end of the straight-away but, don't rule out passing through the turns. This can be accomplished with ease (with a little practice). The AI cars have a tendency to run a high line which gives them power coming out of the turns. If you run a lower line (preferably in the first lane) you can overtake them with relative ease.

Passing on the outside (Throwing caution and tradition to the wind!): The big no-no is taking people on the outside right? Well, yes and no. It can be done, on fresh tires and with a car that handles well enough that yo are not loose out of the turn. The AI will give you enough room to take the on the outside. Hold your ground (but don't take theirs) because they will put you in the wall.

Treacherous Turn 4: We haven't really talked about turn 4 but in my mind it is a non factor. You can easily make it through 4 if you can make it through 1. Turn 4 allows you to get a lot of speed down the front stretch just make sure you slow down for turn 1.
