George was born here at
Thistledown Croft and was
purchased by Joe and Jane
McMaster of Portland, NY as a
weanling. They had him gelded
and took superb care of him but
when they found they no longer
had the time to give him the
attention he deserved they
returned him to us. Do to lack
of space we feel the best
thing for George is to find a
new family who can play with
him and love him. George
has a very forward and
friendly disposition. His mother
was a donkey we rescued and
his father was a very fine
registered spotted jack. George
is pure white and has striped
hooves that are both black
and white. He no doubt gets
his color traits from his sire
however both parents are light
colored. George's mother is a
pearl grey dun with a nice stripe
and cross.
George is just the right
size and temperament for
riding or driving however we
do not recommend heavy
adults ride donkeys unless
they are Mammoth Donkeys.
A smaller women, teen ager
or child could ride George in
style. He has only limited
experience being ridden
however. We will continue to
use him here until we can place
him in a suitable home.
George was used as a guard
animal for dairy goats and
now is living in with our
Scottish Blackface Sheep.
He also seems very much at
ease with our other donkeys
and horses. This gelding is
one very handsome boy and
we think he is outstanding.
He has good conformation,
excellent temperament, and
is sound. George has had good
foot care and has never been
sick a day in his life. He was
a cocky little guy from day
one here. When he was born
he looked around with confidence
like he had been here before!
I really would like to keep him
myself but it isn't fair to George.
