First let me say that the reason it is the Hunter/Chasse genealogy and not the Hunter genealogy is because my paternal great grandfather, born Honore Chasse, changed his name to Henry Hunter when he moved his family south from St. Agathe, ME, to Macwahoc, ME. At the time there was a great deal of anti-Canadian French sentiment in the area and so he anglicized the name in hopes of keeping his family away from this. I doubt that it worked, but, none the less, our family became surnamed Hunter and are one of the very few Hunter families who were originally named Chasse.

I hope you will find the information here useful and that it helps you in your your own endeavors to uncover your own family genealogy. There are, of course, errors in the genealogy. I have yet to see one that didn't have errors, but they are errors that can't be helped due to many factors, much having to do with the timeframes involved and the lack of records, or accuracy of records, but I have done the best I can do to resolve these problems. Thirty years of genealogy work has brought me a lot of insights and I have used them in this work. So, if you find an error, based upon actual sources in your possession, please don't hesitate to email me with the corrections and I will make the changes necessary to this genealogy......I have never been afraid to admit that I was wrong when it comes to genealogy.  And even if you don't have a correction, please feel free to write me anytime. I love hearing from genealogists.......

Thank you,

Tim Hunter
