SOORAH AL-QADR (THE NIGHT OF DECREE)

| 1. | Verily! We have sent it (this Qur'aan) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) [1] | |
| 2. | And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? | |
| 3. | The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allaah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). | |
| 4. | Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] by Allaah's Permission with all Decrees, | |
| 5. | Peace! (All that night, there is Peace and Goodness from Allaah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn. [2] | |
[1] (V.97:1) "Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments." [The Qur'aan, (Verse 44:4)]**
** i.e., the matters of deaths, births, provisions, calamities, etc. for the whole (coming) year as decreed by Allaah.
[2] (V.97:5) Narrated 'Aaishah (radhiAllaahu 'anhaa): Allaah's Messenger (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan." (Saheeh Bukhari, Vol. 3, Hadeeth No. 234).
