In the beginning was te kore,the void.It was the nothingness,in it nothing existed.
Then came te po,the night,and in the night two beings evolved.the earth (te papa)woman,the sky(ranginui)man.In the dark thay clung one to the other.To them in the night children were born, endowed with god-like power,who had their being in the darkness,and longed for the light.set the sky on high and the earth below.In the light of the new-swung sun there now was created all manner of things,animate and inanimate. |
