This is an insert edging that I made from white Silk 'n' Colors by the Thread Gatherer of Boise, ID to be appliqued on top of a ring bearer's pillow for my nieces upcoming wedding. The thread comes in a 12 ply skein. I used one ply to tat this. So it is very tiny tatting. It measures 5 inches/approx. 12.5cm. It is from the "Patchwork" pattern on page 64 out of Mary Konior's "Tatting with Visual Patterns". It is asquare motif made to use as a tablecloth. But there are many uses you can use with a square motif. Like here, you can use it as a lace edging or insert. Inside the opening will be a 3D tatted rose with ribbon embroidery roses and leaves. When the pillow is finished I will get a picture up of that as well so you can see its intended purpose. |

And here is the finished pillow! You can barely see the square insert on the pillow. Kim(wife) made the pillow out of satin and did a ribbon weaving on top with irridescent chiffon ribbon. She then sewed down the intersections of the ribbon weaving with pearls. She then appliqued the tatted square insert on an angle opposite of the square pillow. She made ribbon roses for a base in the center and put one of my tatted roses on top of that and nestled two silver rings in the rose. You also can see she added a silver butterfly pin. Then the 4 inch white fringe was added around the edges of the pillow with an irridescent braid to trim it at the top. |
