Who is Angel?
In the simpliest terms, Angel is a vampire with a soul. To leave it at that would be missing out on some very important aspects of this man. He is aproximately 240 years old and was cursed by gypsies for killing a beloved daughter of the tribe about 80 years ago. They cursed him that he would regain his soul and live with the torment of knowing exactly what he had done as a demon, a vampire, as Angelus and yet maintaining the human knowledge of compassion and suffering.
He is a soul in search of redemption, walking a fine line between suffering and damnation. In the one moment he was allowed to find peace from this suffering, one moment of happiness, he once again lost his hold on his soul and began another reign of terror.
He is "the one with the angelic face" and yet that darkness lives with in him never resolved. He must live with that and so must we, until that time that he may find true redemption.
