Cathrine

Cathrine Arsenault wins the hearts of her audiences with her engaging guitar style and powerful voice.

A songwriter and performer, Cathrine has shared the stage with Lucie Blue Tremblay, Rita MacNeil, and Heather Bishop. Her first album was released in 1988 on Snowy River Records.

Cathrine's songs are based in the folk and blues tradition with a twist of country thrown in. Her powerful guitar playing and rich voice are well suited to her repertoire, which includes many of her own compositions as well as works by Joan Armatrading, Bruce Cockburn, Bonnie Raitt, Sam Cooke and Tracy Chapman.

In addition to her club dates in Ottawa, Kingston, and Toronto, Cathrine has been featured in several concerts including the Great Canadian Theatre Company's Ottawa Show, International Womens Week, Peace Caravan, Festival of the Arts, and the Womens Voices Folk Festival.

She appeared at the Kingston Folk Festival in 1985 and in 1988 and was selected as one of the singer/songwriters in the 1988 Ottawa Writers' Bloc, recorded by CBC for Performance.

Recently Cathrine has teamed up with recording artist Syrah Savoy and will be working on their next recording project as a collaboration.
