Gaia Speaks

Sacred land, sacred place
Sacred people, I have come
We are one, all in one.
Through my tears I saw you birthed,

Little ones, sacred ones,
Birthed with Me in tears of joy.
You have grown; we have grown.
Move with Me and make My will.

Be My will, we are one.
I see through your eyes,
I act through your hands.
Your hands are Mine,
Our will is one,
Thy will be done

Children of My womb,
Live in Me, live through Me
We are one, all in one.
I heard your call, I felt your call

Bringing me to this sacred place
But I have always been here,
Will always be with you
Where you are
Till you return into Me.

Sacred land, sacred place,
Sacred people, we are one.

The Beginning of the Earth

The ocean is the beginning of the Earth;
All life comes from the sea.

Spirits

Spirit of the waters, soothe away my anger,
For I am soon to leave here in great fear and pain
Surround me with thy beauty
If it please thee that I might lose my fear of the flames.

Spirit of the fire, hear me when I cry
For I am soon to die and leave a daughter to mourn
Let me burn brightly
If it please thee that she might see my light and be warm.

Spirit of the air, lift my ashes quietly
So high above that gathering and let them fall again,
And this shall be a sign
If it please thee that I shall be returning on the North wind.

Spirit of the earth, I give my body to thee;
Oh let my bones scattered be among the growing things
And let the forest grow
If it please thee over this place of death and suffering.

The Fool

Night and stars are falling down,

Guardian Song

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds,
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds.
Blessed be the East at dawn,
Blessed be the North in fire,
Blessed be the West water,
Blessed be the South earth,
Born of the Lady and the Lord.
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds
For they stand on a barren plain
Watching, watching all that goes round;
Guardians of the Lady and Lord,
Guardians of the Earth, our home,
Midnight throne, Now and alway!

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds,
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds.
Blessed be the East at dawn,
Blessed be the winds of change,
Blessed be the folks that go onward
In a new way that is about to begin now.

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds,
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds.
Blessed be the North at noon,
Blessed be the warm hearth-fire,
Blessed be the heart’s desire,
Sustenance of all life and right of people to live.

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds,
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds.
Blessed be the West twilight,
Blessed be the womb waters,
Blessed be dissolving love,
Binding all and healing all who know love is to give.

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds,
Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds.
Blessed be the Earth’s midnight,
Blessed be the corn and wheat,
Blessed be the body’s search,
Centre of existence, miracle healing, fount of all being.

Blessed be the Guardians of the Worlds
For they stand on a barren plain
Watching, watching all that goes round;
Guardians of the Lady and Lord,
Guardians of the Earth, our home,
Midnight throne, Now and alway!

Circle Casting Song

Eastern morning / First breath of the soul,
World view forming / Sacred and whole,
Wind of knowledge / simple and wise,
Bringer of the lightning / that strikes in our minds.
Come to us - be here now!

Northern fire / white rays of the sun,
Source of Will / that always is done,
Heat of passion / longing and need,
You who push the green one / out of the seed.
Come to us - be here now!

Western river / devotee of the moon,
Gentle sculptor / of babes in the womb,
Spring of jubilation / courage and tears,
Giver of the sweet love / that soothes all our fears.
Come to us - be here now!

Southern mountain / body of the earth,
Finite treasure / of infinite worth,
Cave of transformation / childbirth and death,
Suckler of the wild ones / who curl upon your breast
Come to us - be here now!

No End to the Circle (Invocation)

For you can see Me in your eyes
When they are mirrored by a friend.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end,

For I am the power to begin.
I dream and bring to birth what’s never been.
There is no end to freedom, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end;
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

And you can hear Me in your voice
And feel me in each breath that you breathe in.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end,
I am the power to sustain,
I am the ripened fruit and growing grain.
There is no end to My abundance, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end,
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

And you can feel Me in your heart
When it beats with the heart of a friend.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end,
And I am the power to end;
I am the crone that cuts the cord that I spin.
Though all things that are born must die again
There is no end to life, there is no end,
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

For all proceeds from me and all returns
All that returns to me comes forth again.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.
I am the honey taste of passion’s heat
The fear running through your heartbeat
I am dancing through your lightened feet
Desire so fierce and love so sweet.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

We All Come From the Goddess

We all come from the Goddess
And to Her we shall return,
Like a drop of rain
Flowing to the ocean…

Water rushing, water flowing,
Ever moving, ever changing…

Weaving through my life,
Branches intertwine,
Spirit comes to me
Bringing gifts divine…
Tides and currents flow…

Hoof and horn, hoof and horn,
All that dies shall be reborn;
Corn and grain, corn and grain,
All that falls shall rise again…

Who Is She?

Who is She?/She is the Young One,
With shining eyes and fearless heart,
She brings the dawn.
Who is She?/She is the Young One,
The daring dreamer;
She runs alone/ She runs alone.
O silver crescent,
Thou lovely Maiden,
Come, Young One, come.

Who is She?/She is the Lover,
Her bones and blood are of the Earth;
She holds us all.
Who is She?/She is the Lover,
Unfailing bounty,
She walks in power, She walks in power.
O blessed full moon,
Thou sacred Mother,
Come, Lover, come.

Who is She?/She is the Old One,
Who has survived beyond Her fear;
She laughs out loud.
Who is She?/She is the Old One,
With love and wisdom
She leads the way, She leads the way
O waning gold moon,
Thou honoured Crone Queen,
Come, Old One, come.

Who is She?
Go back to top.

Kore Chant

She changes everything She touches,
And everything She touches changes.
Her name cannot be spoken, Her face was not forgotten;
Her power is to open, her promise can never be broken.

All seeds She deeply buries,
She weaves the thread of seasons;
Her secret, darkness carries,
she loves beyond all reason.

All sleeping seeds She wakens,
The rainbow is Her token;
Now winter’s power is taken,
In love all chains are broken.

Everything lost is found again,
In a new form, in a new way;
Everything hurt is healed again,
In a new time, in a new day.

Bright as a flower and strong as a tree,
With our love and with our rage,
Breaking our chains so we can be free,
With our love and our rage.

We are changers,
Everything we touch can change.
Change is, touch is,
Touch is, change is.
Change us, touch us,
Touch us, change us.

The God Song

Oh people, why is it so hard for you
To open you eyes and see Me?
Oh people, how can you believe
That the names they taught you describe Me?

I am more than you have known.
How does the seed begin to grow?
When you drink the poisoned water,
Can’t taste the river.

And you can never hold Me
In a hand that never opens.
Don’t think that I don’t need you,
I’m always reaching for you.

Don’t think that I don’t want you,
I’m still calling to you.
Don’t think that I don’t want you,
I’m still calling to you.

I’m not what you expect to see,
I will never tell you what to be.
Look outside every boundary;
Where there’s nothing to hold you, there I’ll be.

There is no end to the circle, no end,
There is no end to life, there is no end.
I’m the word that you can’t define,
I’m the comma that runs outside the line,
I’m the shiver running up your spine.
Break the pattern, I’ll make a new design.
There is no end to the circle, no end,
There is no end to life, there is no end.

I’m the wild bird that won’t be tamed,
The desire that you don’t need to name,
I’m the branch that becomes the flame,
When the fire’s done, I remain.
There is no end to the circle, no end,
There is no end to life, there is no end.

The sun arises and he sets,
The seasons turn and turn again,
The circle has no end,
There is no end to life, there is no end.

For all proceeds from me and all returns
All that returns to me comes forth again.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

I am the honey taste of passion’s heat
The fear running through your heartbeat
I am dancing through your lightened feet
Desire so fierce and love so sweet.

There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.
And you can know the power in your heart
When it beats with the heart of a friend;
And you can feel the power in your hand
Reach out and take the hand of a friend.

There is no end to the circle, no end;
Together we have power to begin.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

Reach out and take the hand of a friend;
Reach out and take the power to begin.

Lord of the Dance

When She danced on the water and the wind was Her horn,
The Lady laughed, and everything was born,
She lit the sun and its light gave Him birth,
The Lord of the Dance then appeared on the Earth.

Chorus: Dance, dance, wherever you may be,
For I am the Lord of the Dance ,said He!
I’ll lead you all wherever you may be
and I’ll lead you all in the Dance, said He!

I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
I danced in the Moon and the Stars and the Sun,
I was called from the darkness by the Song of the Earth,
I joined in the singing and She gave Me birth!

I dance at the Sabbat when you chant the Spell,
I dance and sing that everyone be well;
When the dance is over, do not think that I am gone
To live is the music! So still dance on!

They cut me down, but I leap up high,
I am the Life that will never, ever die,
I live in you if you live in me,
I am the Lord of the Dance , said He.

Extra verses:

I dance in the Circle when the flames leap up high,
I dance in the Fire and I never, ever die,
I dance in the waves of the bright summer sea,
For I am the Lord of the wave’s mystery.

I sleep in the kernel, and I dance in the rain,
I dance in the wind and through waving grain,
And when you cut me down, I care nothing for the pain;
In the spring I’m the lord of the Dance once again!

I see the Maidens laughing as they dance in the sun,
And I count the fruits of the harvest, one by one,
I know the storm is coming, but the grain is all stored,
So I sing of the Dance of the Lady and Her Lord.

The Horn of the Lady cast its sound across the plain,
The birds took the notes and gave them back again,
Till the sound of Her music was a song in the sky,
And to that song there is only one reply.

The moon in her phases and the tides of the sea,
The movement of the earth and the seasons that will be,
Are the rhythm for the dancing, and a promise through the years,
That the Dance goes on through all our joy and tears.

We dance ever slower as the leaves fall and spin,
And the sound of the Horn is the wailing of the wind,
The Earth is wrapped in stillness, and we move in a trance,
But we hold on fast to our faith in the dance!

The sun is in the northland and the days grow chill
and the sound of the Horn is fading on the hill,
‘Tis the Horn of the Hunter, as He rides across the plain,
And the Lady sleeps till the Spring comes again.

The sun is in the Northland and the days lengthen fast,
and soon we will sing for the winter that is past.
Now we light the candles and rejoice as they burn
And we dance the Dance of the Sun’s return!

The snow is slowly melting and the clouds bring the rain,
the Lady awakes, for the spring has come again.
We dance in the meadows, and we dance in the groves,
And rejoice in the Lord’s and the Lady’s love.

They danced in the darkness and they danced in the night
They danced on the earth, and everything was light;
They danced out the Darkness and they danced in the Dawn
And the Day of that dancing is still going on!

I gaze on the heavens and I gaze on the earth,
And I feel the pain of dying and rebirth,
And I lift my head in gladness, and in praise
for the Dance of the Lord, and His Lady gay.

I dance in the stars as they whirl throughout space,
And I dance in the pulse of the veins in your face.
No dance is too great, no dance is too small,
You can look anywhere, for I dance in them all!

Lughnasadh Dance

Lugh, the light of summer bright,
Clothed all in green,
Tailtiu, his mother true,
rise up and be seen.

Chorus: At your festival sounds the horn,
Calling the people again,
Child of barleycorn, newly summer-born,
Ripening like the grain.

Lugh grew tall from spring to fall
Then sought to find a wife,
But Balor came and made his claim
And swore to take Lugh’s life.

The two did fight from morn till night
When Lugh did strike him one;
Balor’s eye flew in the sky
And there became the sun.

Lugh was wed and made his bed
With Erinn in the north,
And there they lay through many a day,
and soon a child came forth.

The child grew tall from spring to fall,
Setanta was his name,
But then at length, by honour’s strength,
Cuchulain he became.

Song of Mari

She comes at the first hint of the morning,
As sweet as the breath of the sea;
Till the cock of the sun cries his warning,
She will walk in the garden with me.

Her kisses so wild yet so tender
Shall make of my body a flame;
No cloud shall obscure Her bright splendour,
No veil and no garment of shame.

For She is Our Lady of Twilight,
My comfort in life’s darkest hour;
I see in Her heavens of midnight
Her shield of omnipotent power.

Though mortals deny and deride me
Till love must rise up and depart,
In a dread secret place She will hide me,
Sealed up with the blood of my heart.

She comes at the first scent of the morning,
Her feet on the crests of the sea;
Till the cock of the sun cries his warning,
She will lie in the garden with me.

Let it Begin Again

A year of beauty, a year of plenty,
A year of planting, a year of harvest,
A year of forests, a year of healing,
A year of vision, a year of passion,
A year of rebirth.
This year may we renew the earth,
This year may we renew the earth.

Let it begin with each step we take
And let it begin with each change we make
And let it begin with each chain we break
And let it begin every time we awake.

Let it begin with the rains,
Let it begin with the deep snows
On the granite bounds of the mountains,
On ancient uncut forests,
Oh let it begin like a running stream,
Like a wild, wide water river,
Let it flow down through the valleys,
The grasslands and the croplands,
May they yield a good harvest
For all those who plant them,
Those who tend them and who pick them
May all who hunger now be fed,
May we heal the soil that grows our bread
And let it begin with each step we take
And let it begin with each change we make.

Let the rivers flow into a bay of clear and living water,
May all the buried streams run free,
And the salmon return each year from the sea;
Oh let it begin with the whales
As they pass on their long migrations;
May flocks of seabirds darken the sky,
And the great winged condor freely fly;
may the summer bring back songbirds
From the rainforest that grows and thrives;
may they take wing in peace,
May they fly over lands at peace;
May all the cycles of life be saved,
And all the risks of change be braved;
And let it begin with each step we take
And let it begin with each change we make.

Let it begin with the fresh winds,
The breath of flourishing forests,
May they carry the voices of women,
May they bring us the songs of our ancestors,
And teach our hidden histories,
And awaken our ancient memories;
Oh let it begin in the streets of this fog bound city,
May we walk these streets safely,
May all who are ailing here find care
For the spirit and body,
May we shelter all who need fire and bed,
And be a refuge for those who fled,
May this be a city of lovers, of poets, singers and dancers,
Of dreamers, and drummers, and changers,
May the old ones and the young be loved,
May all the forms of love be blessed,
And all the colours of our skin be praised,
Like sisters, like brothers,
May we take care of each other,
Let it begin with each step we take,
And let it begin with each change we make.

Let it begin with the fire,
The smouldering coals of an ancient hearth,
With the secret visions in our hearts,
May we fan the flames into life,
May we tend the fires of life,
May all the works of change be done
May we draw power from the wind and sun,
And weave our magic on the turning moon
And dance on the living earth,
She is our Mother, our healer and lover,
We are of her,
We are her circle, circle of healing, circle of plenty,
The seeds of our new year, a year of rebirth.
This year may we renew the Earth,
This year may we renew the Earth.

Let it begin with each step we take
And let it begin with each change we make
And let it begin with each chain we break
And let it begin every time we awake…   ( repeat)

No End to the Circle (Devocation)

Now the old year’s fruit comes to your hand;
It is the seed of the year which now begins
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.
For we have danced the spiral dance,
The Wheel of the Year has turned again.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

Earth, we thank you for your strength,
Air, we thank you for your cleansing winds,
fire, for our passion and bright will
water, for the love that flows within.
And now as we ask you to depart
Strength and love remain bright in our hearts.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.

The God who is tender and untamed,
Who touches what is deep and soft within,
Be with us as we lay the weapons down,
For ours is the power to change.
We remember how our hopes went up in flames
While poison and pain spread all around,
But our anger is a fire that brings change
For ours is the power to end;
For we are the guardians of the world
And we can heal the Earth again;
As the hills turn green with winter rain,
Ours is the power to sustain;
and we can dream what’s never been,
unbounded love for women and for men,
for all that grows, all that leaps and flies and swims;

And ours is the power to begin
And you can see the power in your eyes
When they are mirrored by a friend,
And you can hear the power in your voice
And feel it in each breath that you breathe in.
And you can know the power in your heart
When it beats with the heart of a friend;
And you can feel the power in your hand
Reach out and take the hand of a friend.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
Together we have power to begin.
There is no end to the circle, no end;
There is no end to life, there is no end.
Reach out and take the hand of a friend;
Reach out and take the power to begin.

Chorus of Life

I heard the wolf howling a long time ago;
It sounded like music to me.
I heard eagles cry as they danced through the sky;
Their voices like sweet choirs rang.

Oh, where is the wolf, tell me where has he gone?
Will his voice be lost to the chorus of life?
And where is the eagle, where has she flown?
Oh, who will be left to continue the song?

The whales dream deep in the heart of the sea
Of a world without harpoons and men.
The sea turtle strands her eggs on the sand
For time, tide or scavengers then.

Oh, where is the whale, tell me where has he gone?
Will his voice be lost to the chorus of life?
And where is the turtle, where has she swum?
Oh, who will be left to continue the song?

The buffalo has wandered far, far away,
The thunder of their hooves is now still.
The bear cries for life in a world grown too small;
Is anyone out there listening at all?

Oh, where is the buffalo, where has he gone?
Will his voice be lost to the chorus of life?
Oh, where is the bear, tell me where has she roamed?
Oh, will no-one be left to continue the song?

Oh will no-one be left…

Stand Up For The Earth

Chorus: Stand up for the earth
Stand up for all she’s worth
We’re standing up for life’s rebirth
No compromise the earth comes first

We won’t compromise for life’s rebirth.
The earth is dying in such disgrace
Toxic waste are pilling up at a rapid pace
The waters are poison ,the air we can’t breathe

We’re living our lives for profit and greed
Conspicuous consumption, the American creed
A lot of people talk about  apocalypse
They say the world is ending, there is nothing we can fix
That only a few of us will make the grade
While the rest of us will perish in a prophetic flame
They say the world is evil and the devil’s to blame

A new word is rising from out of the old
Every where we look the sprouts are taking hold
We may not reap the seeds that we sow
But we’ve got to keep planting every where that we go
Planting seeds so the future can grow
Well, join us now in cosmic scene
The final act is about to convene
And how it turns out is up to you and me.

We are the shapers of our destiny
weaving dreams on life’s tapestry
Come on every body now lets make a start
Join our hands and open our hearts
The clock is ticking, time is running out
We’ve got to let our voices really count
We’ve got to let her know with out a doubt.

Angel of Bells

She takes us wanderers under Her wing,
Sings us songs till the coming of the spring,
Lifts our souls far into the night,
Fills our dreaming with wondrous delight.

Chorus: You, you were born naked,
Naked, naked you’ll die,
Angel of darkness, angel of mercy,
Take away the sorrow, take away the pain.
The angel of bells, she knows the ring,
Wraps it round your shoulders, fluffs up your wings.

She’ll take you flying, suddenly you’ll sing
The angel of bells, she knows the ring.
All you have to do is call out her name,
She’ll come to you, she loves your silly games.
She’ll be dancing on a silver plane,
the angel of bells, she knows your name.

Morning

After night’s strife, a harmonious morning;
Out of destruction a new world is rising.
From such upheavals and such transformations,
Is the union of earth and the sea so surprising?

On the smooth shoreline the waves brush a question.
In answer, the land offers welcome and, willing,
Receives the sea’s gift in swift rushing waters;
Soon the pools with profusion of life will be filling.

Gently the boats slide away from their moorings
And let the tide take them, upon the wind leaning,
Freed by the sea by whose bounty they’re nourished,
grown wise in the ways of the waves and their meaning.

The long separation at last has been ended,
the Elements with humankind reconciling.
Ever the Guardians of the ocean will bless them;
Now the spirits that dwell in the waters are smiling.

Thank You For This Life

The sun is shining, the winds are blowing,
The earth is greening, the waters are flowing
Spirit’s moving me and my heart is glowing
With love for this beautiful life.
Thank you for this life.

I am so lucky to be alive;
The earth provides all I need to survive,
So many visions for which to strive
In this beautiful life.
Thank you for this life.

From the mountains I catch a glimpse of hope
Forests embrace me in their healing scope,
The ebb and flow of the oceans help me cope
In this beautiful life.
Thank you for this life.

I even thank you for the grief and pain
And all the lessons it’s been my chance to gain.
Truth and strength will always be my aim
in this beautiful life.
Thank you for this life.

I pray to you to grant me sweet release
I open up to life’s harmonies
Make me an instrument of thy peace
In this beautiful life.
Thank you for this life.

Metamorphosis

From the seed springs the tree,
From the cloud falls the rain,
after cold comes the sun,
Barren fields wave with grain.

Chorus: From the dark comes the day,
Out of death life is raised,
In despair hope is born,
May the Lady be praised.

As the night turns to dawn
And the winter to spring,
As the dark moon grows new,
Time transforms everything.

Lightning flares from the sky,
from the spark leaps the flame,
Though the body be changed,
Still the spirit is the same.

Now from sleep I awake
And from death I arise,
Growing old I am young
And my soul seeks the skies.

One with the Mother

We are one with our mother,
We are one with the earth.
We are one with each other
By our lives, by our birth.

Wings

Wandering in the deep of the night,
A thousand birds take flight;
and our dreams are born
On the wings of change.
We are weaving the world tonight.

Star-Spangled Pagan

This night we partook of fellowship bright
In the manner of ancients beneath the clear starlight.
Our fair Lady and Lord, their patronage giv’n,
The dance of their union we danced once again.

‘Neath the star-spangled sky,
Ah, the wine, how it flowed!
Hear now our most ancient of blessings bestowed:
The circle is open, but shall never be broken.
Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.

Two, two, the two-faced God
In gold and red and green-o,
One is one and all alone
And ever more shall be it so.

The Earth is Our Mother

The Earth is our mother, We must take care of Her,
The Earth is our mother, We must take care of Her.
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung,
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung.

The sacred ground we walk upon with every step we take,
The sacred ground we walk upon with every step we take,
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung,
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung.

The Sky is our father, We must take care of Him,
The Sky is our father, We must take care of Him.
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung,
Hey-yunga, ho-yunga, hey-yung yung.

The Earth is our mother, We must take care of Her,

The song God Was a Woman written and sung by the Lunacy Band, a homosexual Pagan group, is a very good summary of the role of the Goddess throughout history, the words follow.

"Warm caress in the night time,
Tender lip of the rose at dawn,
Echoing crypt in the shadow,
Can you tell me where She is gone?

Do you remember when God was a woman?
She had many names.
Do you remember when God was a woman?
She had many, many names.
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna

We called Her mother, She was the mother,
of the earth and other children
From the sky, the land and the sea.
She was the green one growing,
life sustaining and life abundantly,
She was the sunlight, starlight,
waxing moon and waning moon
and the Queen of heaven too.
She was the deep space and the galaxies
of planets that we ride twirling through.

We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.

We heard Her voice in the whirl of the whirlwind
We felt Her pulse in the drive of the driving rain
We saw Her blood at the birth of our children
We tasted Her flesh in the growing grain.

She was the young one,
the holy maid and huntress,
the light that blooms in the Spring.
She was the sea, the key,
the power of beginning,
the dawn that's opening.
She was the old one,
the hag, the crone of wisdom,
the deep grave under the Earth
She was the Queen of night,
the face of death and darkness,
the cauldron of rebirth.

We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.

She was the warm caress in the night time,
She was the tender lip of the rose at dawn,
She was the echoing crypt in the shadow,
Can you tell me where She has gone?

Is She forgotten?
Can we find Her resting place?
Where is the hour of Her return?
We are without Her and the dark is all around,
The forest dies, the witches burn.
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.
M-m-m-m-m-m, M-m-m-m-m-m, M-m-m-m-m-m, M-m-m-m-m-m.
And remember, and remember,
Can we remember, can we remember, can we remember?

The dreams will take us in our hearts to the place where She has gone
She is still among us, we see Her name
and She answers and She still lives on and on
And She still lives on and on.

We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.

She is the lover, She is sweet desire and passion
embracing men and women too.
She is the skin, the hands, the mouth,
the swelling breast, the gate we all pass through.
She is the world outside and the world in touch
both birth, life, love and death.
She is the fear, the fire, the boundary and the centre.
She is north, south, east and west.

We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.

She is the woman who is crying for justice
and She lives in the hurt of the angry ones.
She moves in the power of changing
and She calls to our hearts "freedom! freedom!"

Do you remember when God was a woman?
She had many, many names.
Do you remember when God was a woman?
She had many, many names.
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna
We called Her Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali and Inanna.

Do you remember?!"

Summer Solstice by John Knight

Midsummer evening, the tide just beginning
to turn, and after closing the four quarters,
leaving the circle, we took each from the two priestesses
a small boat that was woven from banana leaves
with a candle set in it. And as we passed between
two rows of white clad maidens, there were baskets of roses
and rose petals and we put them into the boats
as we chose. The pair at the end held tapers
and they lit the candles as we passed. So we went out
over the soft grass and down to the beach, wading
out into the still warm water, and we set our boats
to go out with the tide, and our hopes and prayers
and loves we laid on them, the sea blood red then darkening
as they sailed far off, the candles still glowing
till no sight remained and we turned slowly back
to the land and the night.

This Poem describes the 1996 Summer Solstice ritual held at Bribie Island by the Daughters of Danu for the Brisbane pagan community.

Easter by John Knight.

Twelve barley cakes baking, our guests are expected,
The women are waiting, there's red wine aplenty.

The men by the bar are still talking,
Cat stretches and walks to the window,

An owl flies over the face of the moon,
A servant shifts the logs, sparks fly:

She tells me that our time must end,
For the year'ss king shall die tonight.

Cook sweats, the roast turning the spit,
Funeral pyre's thousand year egg in the embers;

Fair Ishtar, queen of heaven, disrobes in the corner,
Dogface stares at the hawk on the rafters,

Suddenly a baby cries,
The horned man steps out from the shadows.

Outside the hunting women howl,
Tail-swallower stirs under the smoking cone,

The blind man tosses and moans in his sleep on the floor:
Shiva-destroyer, of the many arms, whispers the seed will rise again.

The Tree
- by Maela Tree by Maela

Congealing in shades of green and blue, forest and sky link fingers to become the essence of purity. The beauty and wisdom of the trees emanate to the creatures below , and we are filled with the real, the truth of nature.

The moon becomes whole and my limbs begin to quiver with the realisation of sacredness and divinity that enwraps my universe. May the stars find peace within my mind, float inside and feel the immense emotions drape you in immortal wisdom.

Words carved upon thy horizon, all of the earth standing firm in their knowledge, paint the space with elemental shadows and observe the ritual of existence.

Tree of Knowledge was hand-fasted with the Tree of Life and so forth all of existence did merge with all of creation in a swoon of life.

I sit upon nature's breast and I am nourished by her soothing voice. She whispers into my ears, prophecies and secrets of the universe's mind; it seeps into my temples and conjures visions of worlds and skies that are but real and pure, in synchronised moments and spaces of deep intense being.

The place of real; truth gazes upon our mortal forms and plants the seed of knowledge, we see the decay of greed and the manifestation of life reborn,...... may all of life be embraced by those who possess the true love of the soul of all.
