Maison Ikokku Episode 83 Godai is
on the balcony of his apartment with a baby on his back who will be henceforth
be called Little Bastard, because I'm too lazy too look up his real name.
Godai's grandmother bursts into his room with the other tenants (of course)
saying that she's going to her high school reunion. Upon going into the lobby
with his Grandmother Godai sees a dressed up Kyoko who is preparing to go to
lunch with her parents because it's her father's birthday. Godai's
grandmother leaves for her reunion with some friends and who should show up to
pick up Kyoko, but Mitaka. Of course this pisses off Godai and surprises Kyoko
who wasn't expecting Mitaka. While the two leave Miss Ichinose mentions that
Kyoko's parents must favor Mitaka and guess what, that pisses off Godai too.
Brooding some more in his room Godai doesn't realise that Taro's gone for a
while. Inside Mitaka's fancy pantsy car Mitaka and Kyoko are talking, while
Kyoko is upset that her mother didn't tell her he would be coming along. Mitaka
thinks to himself that she probably doesn't know that his parents would be there
as well. Upon stopping at the hotel where they will be eating it is revealed
that Taro was hiding in the back seat of the car, because he had wanted to play
with Kyoko. Thus making everyone think back to the first law of Speed Racer:
Always check the back seat because a child/monkey WILL be back there if you
don't. In the lobby we get to see the Mitaka's parents and it should come as
no surprise to find that they both have shiny teeth and are quite loud. While
Kyoko's mom is really friendly, her husband rudely keeps to himself. Kyoko's mom
explains to her daughter that she isn't going to do better than Mitaka and they
need to make a good impression on his parents, but Kyoko is still mad at her mom
for deceiving her. Breaking up the meeting between the two families is Taro
who wants to play with Kyoko. Not wanting the afternoon ruined Kyoko's mom wants
the kid gone so Kyoko calls Godai. In a strained phone call Godai asks if he
should come to the hotel to pick up Taro and much to the delight of the viewer
Kyoko says yes. Leaving a message for Little Bastard and Taro's mom who is
supposed to be coming to pick them up, Godai runs to the hotel with Little
Bastard strapped to his back. Back at the hotel Kyoko doesn't mention that
its Godai who's coming and they eat lunch with Taro in tow, much to Kyoko's
mom's chagrin. During lunch Kyoko makes herself look like a horrible marriage
prospect, while everyone tries to overlook what she says except for her dad
who's too busy eating to care. After lunch Kyoko and Mitaka go for a walk
around the park, while Godai picks up Taro. Godai runs into his Grandmother's
reunion and has to escape the hands of similar looking old ladies. On their walk
Mitaka tells Kyoko that they should go back to the car once he spots Godai. Upon
getting Kyoko into the car, Mitaka comes back to talk with Godai who has set
both of the children aside so they can play in the park. Mitaka and Godai have
some heated words, but a fight is preempted when they see that Taro and Little
Bastard are about to fall into a pond. Thinking they fast, Godai and Mitaka grab
the kids with Mitaka dry and Godai flalling into the pond. Upon leaving the
hotel in his car, Mitaka and Kyoko are chased after, on foot no less, by Godai
who Mitaka says will be okay. Upon going back to Maison Ikokku Godai finds that
the mother of the two kids has not returned and he waits for Kyoko's return. At
the top of a hotel, Kyoko and Mitaka are drinking wine while talking. He
mentions that he has a hotel room ready and will keep it reserved until the day
she decides to open her heart to him. (e.g. the day she knocks boots with him)
Now, that's what I call classy!
