Passionate Nature

Although many months had passed, Jim still shivered with pleasure whenever he remembered their first time. Being in love was wonderful, a source of great joy. Comfortable as he was with Spock, the passionate nature of their union had surprised him. Desire seemed to fill the Vulcan like wine filled a bottle.

Eventually, he mused, it might become routine, though he doubted it. Few people suspected the passion that lurked in the Vulcan's calm frame. "Good thing, too," Kirk said aloud. "He'd never be out of bed if people knew how good he is!" It was enough to make a man wary. Jealous, even.

Kirk queried the ship's computer as to Spock's whereabouts, and was unsurprised to find him in a lower corridor, making his way up from the science labs. Little of Kirk's emotions were lost on the Vulcan, and their link often brought him 'home' rather early. Most nights were now spent happily tangled in bed, though they had managed, lately, to fit in the occasional chess game. "Never considered a Vulcan as candidate for sex fiend," Jim smiled to himself. "Ordinarily, it would seem the least logical of pastimes for one that cerebral."

Perhaps it was his human side emerging. Quixotic as it seemed, the contradiction between the stoic Vulcan F.O. and the abandoned Vulcan lover fit, somehow. Recalling McCoy's reaction, Jim laughed aloud. "Sex with Spock?! Talk about wasting your time!" Unable to explain without revealing far too much about their private lives, Jim had merely shrugged. "Very well, Doctor. We are all entitled to our opinions."

Xenophiles would love to know about Vulcans, he decided. You just never knew what you would come across in this vast, wacky universe. Zarabeth, of all the aliens they had encountered, had seen the truth, and Kirk was eternally glad of it.
