So who the hell am I am Mick, he of the guitar and occasional musical interludes with Alan.

And this is the tale of how the name John Peel?udgement came about:

Once upon a time I was a little heavily into a band called Gong (still am to some extent), who you may or may not have heard. And there was this album on Revelation Records called (The?) Glastonbury Fayre. A triple album with stunning inserts and large fold our sleeve. Amongst the artists contained therein (Pink Fairies, Edgar Broughton Band, Grateful Dead, Hawkwind, David Bowie and some others that I don't remember) was Gong.

In the mid eighties, some friends and myself decided we needed to form a band. These things happen. And bands need names. So, armed with the fact that we just were not going to make it as a normal band (too many influences to be dumped into the melting pot) and remembering that there was a track on the Gong side of the album which consisted solely of John Peel intoning the words curious Band, we had our name.

Curious Band existed, on and off, from 1986 (I think) to 2001 in various guises, and has been a hard name for me to shake off (you never know, maybe I haven't yet, time will tell). Some guises were better than others, and I was really enjoying the last one, but apparently it hadn't been built to last.

2002. A new project. Could be the chance to shake off the name, especially as it ain't my band! Just something I am part of. No control. Still needed a name thought, this here track which consisted of John Peel intoning, etc. etc. had a title. Go on, you sussed it, right Yeah, you've got it. It's the title of the web site, oh yeah, and the name of the band as well.

Don't know what else there is for me to say for now. Don't own, run, or have any real part in the running of Colchester Arts Centre, but I have worked there for about 16 years, I think. And it was always the sritual home? Curious Band. Haven't played there for a fair few years and am still shit scared of fucking it up on the night. Still, that's one of the joys of improvisation.
