David Robinson is living proof of
the old adage that good things come to those who wait. A 1987 graduate
from the U.S. Naval Academy, he honored a commitment to serve two years in
the Navy before joining the NBA, then waited 10 years before finally

and the Spurs
The Admiral had an outstanding four-year career at Navy. As a junior he
led the nation in rebounding and earned College Player of the Year honors
as a senior. Robinson averaged 21 points in four seasons before declaring
himself eligible for the NBA draft. David
was selected as the number one Draft pick in 1987 by the San Antonio Spurs.
