All-Star Game 1996 in San Antonio

Q: How much does it mean to you to have the NBA All-Star game in your home city? What kind of memories will you have?

Robinson: It's obviously a great thrill. It will be great for the city, and I'm happy for the players to get exposed to it. Valerie (his wife) and I knew very little about the city when we first came here, but we've loved it. We made our home here, and we hope to stay for a long time. I think most of the basketball guys who have come here been impressed, as well.

Q: What did you think of Hakeem suggesting that you should start the game in front of your home crowd?

Robinson: I think it was a great gesture on his part, and I really appreciate it. But even if the NBA would have allowed it, I would not have done it. It was a fan vote, and the fans have spoken. It's Hakeem's honor. I'm just going to go out and make the most of the minutes I have and have some fun.
