Brent Jay Spiner
Brent Spiner played the android Lt Commander Data in Star Trek: The Next
Generation, and subsequently 3 Star Trek feature films.
Brent Jay Spiner was born on the 2nd of February -1949 and grew up in
Houston, Texas.
Brent moved to New York following college, where he performed in various plays.
Spiner finally won roles in the Broadway musical productions of "Sunday in the Park with George,"
"The Three Musketeers" and "Big River".
After moving to LA in 1984, Spiner appeared in the Westwood Playhouse production of "Little
Shop of Horrors." His other credits consist of the Woody Allen film "Stardust Memories," a cameo
in the movie "The Miss Firecracker Contest" and guest-starring roles in TV series such as Cheers,
The Twilight Zone, Night Court and Hill Street Blues. Spiner has also featured in the films
"Phenomenon," "Independence Day".
During the 4th season break of The Next Generation, Spiner released and co-produced his 1st
album. Called "Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back," Included on the album is a single called "It's A Sin To Tell
A Lie," which has background vocals provided by the "The Sunspots," more well-known to Star
Trek: The Next Generation fans as Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn and LeVar
Burton.
Apart from his Star Trek time, Spiner has performed in a collection of capacities. His vocal talents
can be heard inthe feature length animated film "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut." He has
also appeared in "Introducting Dorothy Dandridge,".
Spiners most memorable moment from STNG came during an episode called Decent. It involved
a scene where Data was playing a game of poker on the holodeck, with various great minds from
Earths past. One of the players was the real Professor Stephen Hawking.
