His birth name is: Siddig El Fadil
Was born on 21st November, 1965 in the Sudan (Northern Africa), but spent
most of his life in England. His mother is British and the sister of Malcolm
McDowell while his father is Sudanese. He has a brother named Thomas, 16
years his junior.
He grew up in England where he Attended London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
In early episodes of DS9 he was credited as Siddig El Fadil (His birth name). But after attending
Star Trek Conventions he discovered alot of people couldn't pronounce it correctly and so
Alexander Siddig was created!
He is married to Nana Visitor, (who plays
Kira Nerys in DS9)
They have a son Django El Tahir El Siddig, born on the 16th September 1996.
They married on 14th June 1997.
And in April of 2001, they announced their divorce. Their parting was amicable and they continue to share responsibility for their son Django.
