Dear Steve,
The reader's choice issue was great even though only one of my choices was picked (Spacehawk). I really enjoyed the Spacehawk story. It's easy to see why Wolverton was such an influence on the underground artists. If you can dig up more Wolverton it would be greatly appreciated. I found the Grim Reaper interesting as well. The story seemed especially relevant considering the recent anthrax scares. The Girl Commandos had pretty good art. I also enjoyed Supermouse. Keep up the good work.

"Mr. Natural"

Thanks! I hope this and next issue's "request issue" are met with the same approval!

Steve,
The 'Spacehawk' and 'Grim Reaper' stories make 'All-Amazing' #17 possibly your finest issue to date, in my opinion. Wolverton's art on Spacehawk is wonderful and it's easy to see what a deep impression he made on Robert Crumb and other "underground comix" artists. Wolverton was an American original and no one drew quite like he did; I enjoyed the Spacehawk story tremendously.

I had seen the 'Grim Reaper' story before and I think it's a minor classic; the details about the Reaper returning to his old house and almost escaping by prying up the floorboards and searching for something he had left stashed as a child add a touch to this story that was seldom seen in many golden age stories. I was also totally unprepared for the "accidental rescue" the first time I read the story, although the fatigued Doctor losing control of his car was prefigured and the development was perfectly logical. I like Grim Reaper because he works hard to accomplish what he can and doesn't come off as a hero who things come easy for; in another Grim Reaper story, he and a gangster exchange several shots, neither coming even close to hitting the other. I love little details like that, and the Reaper stories seem to contain many memorable little details. His humanity and his one-of-a-kind cowl make him a character who is hard to forget. By the way, I was glad to see that your cover drawing managed to capture the odd details of the Reaper's cowl.

'Girl Commandos' stories are always fun, and come to think of it it was in one of your past issue that I first saw one of their stories. 'Supermouse' wasn't a feature I voted for, but I did enjoy this story and the revelation that Supercheese naturally came from a Supercow, which was out of left field.

Thanks for a great issue,
Jon

Thanks Jon! I know that AAC #s 1 and 10 have been your favorites in the past, so this issue MUST have been good to beat out those books! Hope you enjoyed this issue and will enjoy Crimebusters #1 just as much!

Nice job, Steve. This was the first time that I had read the Grim Reaper and the Girl Commandos. The uniforms that the Girl Commandos wore reminds me of Lady Blackhawk. How about a Yellowjacket or a Spirit of 76 in a future issue?

Cody

I've got a Yellowjacket story just waiting to be reprinted! Now the question is, when? Bwahahaha!

Well, that's all folks! See you next month, or better yet, in Crimebusters #1!

-Steve
