Tennis, Sydney

Marat Safin's straight sets demolition of Pete Sampras in the final of the
US Open there will be a new name on everyone's lips in Sydney and a new favourite

him the first Russian and the second youngest player ever to win the US title,
and his first Grand Slam victory should give him the self-belief to mount
a serious challenge in Sydney.
