Rob Andrew's Falcons may not have enough quality forwards in their squad to sustain a title challenge but their first-choice fifteen is capable of beating any side, especially at their home ground of Kingston Park. The likes of Jonny Wilkinson, John Leslie and new signing Liam Botham are class performers, and in Jamie Noon, Michael Stephenson and Tom May, the Falcons possess three of English rugby's brightest young talents. Older heads such as Gary Armstrong and Inga Tuigamala provide virtal balance and Andrew is sure to get the best out of everyone.

However, Newcastle still lack experienced strength in depth and even if everyone stays fit trophy hunting will not be easy. They certainly look poised for better things and support at Kingston Park promises to be good, but a top five finish is probably still beyond them.
