Dean Ryan, promoted
to head coach after Bob Dwyer's departure, has a difficult task on his hands.
Not only must he lift a squad whose failure to qualify for the Heineken Cup
undermined the confidence of millionaire chairman Malcolm Pearce, but he must
do it without three of the club's best players last season - Burrows, Lemoine,
and Charron.
It is difficult
to see Bristol improve on last season's ninth place and a lower mid-table
beckons for the West Country men. However, if Ryan can get the best out
of his new signings, especially the brilliant Leigh davies, then Pearce
could get a much better return for his investment.
