Professional Wrestling

WWF Attitude
Call it a sport - call it entertainment - or even call it neither, but American professional wrestling still draws a large and enthusiastic following - both in arenas and stadia throughout the States, and on the small screen on this side of the atlantic.

Channel 4 recently drafted in specific UK versions of the WWF Heat programme seen on Sky Sports for the last few years. Channel 5 continue with the WCW - the WWF's less glamorous and slightly uglier sister. Unfortunately, the storylines that constantly afflict the WWF are also starting to crop up amongst the waxed pectorals. permed hair and lycra leggings in the ring. Which is a bit of a shame, as it leaves less time for the in-the-ring action - which after all, is meant to be why most people tune in.

Triple H

Since HHH and Vince McMahon's daughter, Stephanie, combined forces to upset the applecart and seize power some 6 months ago now, new rivalries and coalitions have emerged with ever-increasing regularity. The Rock, the predominant persona in the face of the Triple H revolution, has resisted attempts to remove him from the WWF, and the opposition to the HHH-McMahon domination will be strengthened by the eminent return of Stone Cold Steve Austin, out of action for 6 months after being attacked in a multi-storey car-park - which signalled the beginning of the end the Vince McMahon era.
