Sergei Rebrov
It's a massive season for Spurs and George Graham, who has struggled to re-establish the club as a major force in the Premiership. Tottenham had a rather drab campaign last season and this year the White Hart Lane faithful will demand a vast improvement.

The signing of Rebrov was a fantastic move for Spurs, although maybe a strange choice for Rebrov. He is a quality player and was perhaps more attracted to the thought of playing in London rather than any burning desire to wear the famous white jersey.

Ben Thatcher

Even so, the 26-year-old contributed three goals to an unbeaten pre-season and is already talking of winning the title (could that be a kiss of death?) And at £11 million, the man who hit an incredible 121 goals in 260 games for Dynamo Kiev, could turn out to be the buy of the season. He is an instinctive scorer but is equally effective playing neat passes from deeper positions, prompting Graham to compare him to Dennis Bergkamp. Although he cuts a slight figure at 5ft 7in, the physical demands of the Premiership do not concern him. After toughing it out in the Russian championship for several seasons, he should be more than capable of going the distance. Spurs fans are praying for a bad winter!

Neil Sullivan

However, even with their record new signing, there is a big question mark over the club's ability to mount a serious challenge for a top six place. It is going to be a tough season for Spurs, but Graham is a seasoned campaigner and his sides will always be well organised and difficult to beat. They could just be good enough to get into Europe.

The sale of David Ginola to Aston Villa has enraged the large majority of Spurs fans, but it could be a good move for all parties concerned. Ginola was not happy last season, the team didn't perform well and nor did the player himself. Graham prefers to play a 4-4-2 formation with a wide midfielder rather than a winger, and the bottom line was that he could not afford to have a wide player and it was the right time for Ginola to go.
