Last season was
a poor effort from the Hatters (17th) but they have injected plenty of new
blood into the squad for next season and should fare much better this time
around. The play-offs, though, could still be beyond them.
Thrashing Manchester
City 4-1 in pre-season was a massive confidence boost for Andy Kilner's
men, but remains a huge question mark over a defence that leaked 67 goals
last season.
Apart from
that, Kilner has spent wisely, bringing in Jarko Wiss (FK Moss, £350,000),
Brian Carrigan (Clyde, £100,000), Peter Clark (Carlisle, £100,000), Fredric
Bryngelsson (Hacken, £80,000) and Lee Jones (Bristol Rovers, £50,000); as
well as exciting Liverpoool midfielder Leyton Maxwell on a season's loan.
Not bad at all for just over half-a-million.

Leyton Maxwell

Wiss is certainly
good value for money and he and Carrigan could be the difference between
flirting with relegation and a decent top half finish. Overall, though,
you feel that County will struggle to hold their own against the big guns
in the division.
