The Blades definitely
improved under new boss Neil Warnock towards the end of last season and with
the addition of a couple of new faces this term, their long-suffering fans
will be expecting a better showing this time around.
A top-six finish,
however, is probably beyond them, although the arrival of George Santos
(West Brom, free), Keith Curle (Wolves, free), and David Kelly (Tranmere,
free) will bring a more competitive edge to Bramall Lane and should guarantee
an improvement on last season's 16th place.

Warnock hopes
the signings will strengthen a squad which looked undermanned last season.
And, in signing Santos and Curle, he has paid particular attention to the
defence - an area that was in need of strengthening.
Santos can
play centre-half, centre-midfield and centre-forward and should put pressure
on all three positions. Santos and Curle also have valuable height advantage
and United certainly didn't have enough of that in the team last season
in certain games.
