2000 X-Games: Skateboarding

Despite Tony Hawk's retirement from competitive singles action - the standard was expected to be extremely high on the vert ramp - with Bucky Lasek and Pierre-Luc Gagnon going head-to-head for the gold.

However, the video-game hero was down to compete alongside Andy MacDonald in the vert doubles - where the pair were aiming for their fourth successsive gold.

Parkland favourite Chris Senn was hoping that a niggling ankle injury wouldn't rule him out of contention for a long-overdue gold medal.

The Best Trick competition will see Andy MacDonald, Bob Burnquist, Mathias Ringstrom, Tas Pappas, and Colin McKay aim to take skating to a whole new level.

X-Games: X-tra:

Over 350 of the world's top extreme sports athletes competed in the 2000 X-Games - organised by American television station ESPN - which took place from 17th-22nd August in San Francisco.

Nearly $1m in prize money was up for grabs in a variety of extreme disciplines - Aggressive In-Line Skating, Bicycle Stunt, Freestyle Moto X, Skateboarding, Skysurfing, Sportclimbing, Street Luge and Wakeboarding - all infront of the picturesque San Francisco Bay.
