During1992, many training programs for extension agents and people responsible for conducting research experiments in the field were trained on the major plant diseases and their control. Many Arab, African, Asian and Latin American trainees have been schooled in quarantine measures, fruit diseases, vegetable diseases and seed pathology. Each year, summer training programs for undergraduates of the faculties of agriculture are arranged. Training programs are also conducted for quarantine officers on the diseases of seed potatoes. Garlic growers attended a training program on the control of diseases attacking Chinese garlic.</B></div> <div> <A HREF="id54_m.htm" TITLE="Services and Publications"><U><B><IMG SRC="1024d320.gif" border=0 width="77" height="50" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></B></U></A></div> <div> <B> <A NAME="2__seminars"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="1x1.gif" HEIGHT="1" ALIGN="bottom" WIDTH="1" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0" ></A></B><B>2- Seminars:</B></div> <div> <B> </B><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#800000" FACE="Arial" ><B>PPATHRI arranges seminars every Wednesday, which are open to scientists from other institutes, universities, plant protection authorities and individuals from the private sector. The topics are of general interest and include current research and issues, new technology in plant disease detection, integrated Pest Management (IPM), and future prospects in the field of plant pathology beyond the year 2000.</B></FONT></div> <div> <A HREF="id54_m.htm" TITLE="Services and Publications"><U><B><IMG SRC="1024d320.gif" border=0 width="77" height="50" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></B></U></A></div> <div> <B> <A NAME="3_training"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="1x1.gif" HEIGHT="1" ALIGN="bottom" WIDTH="1" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0" ></A></B><B>3-Training:</B></div> <div> <B> PPATHRI staffs cooperate in all extension services of the ARC and in training programs arranged by the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture and by the Central Administration for Training of the Ministry of Agriculture. The staff also participates in national campaigns for improving crops such as maize and rice. PPATHRI is active in technology transfer programs for faba bean, lentil, apple, tomato, strawberry, plum and citrus.</B></div> <div> <B>The institute arranges training programs for extension officers, plant protection engineers and farmer cooperators. Recently 250 local and international participants attended the Crop Health Conference held in Fayoum. In 1980, PPATHRI published four books, two of which were in Arabic, </B><I><B>A Guide </B></I><B>to </B><I><B>the Plant Disease Research Institute</B></I><B> and </B><I><B>Ten Years of Achievements of the Plant Pathology Research Institute </B></I><B>(1970-1980).</B><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" > </FONT><I><B>A Bibliography of Plant Pathology Research from 1969 through 1980</B></I><B> is an alphabetical listing of publications by institute personnel, Ph.D. theses for science degrees held by institute personnel, and graduate study topics of institute personnel. This publication shows a history of work at the institute including an author index, a subject/disease index and a pathogen index.
