damsel in distress needs java knight: okay, this is what happened. i have this java script that i semi-wrote, semi-edited for a friend who couldn't get it to work. it works great on his page, but now i can't get it to work on mine. my sinking suspicion is that the tables are killing my script (i want to use it above, in the archive / me / playlist / mail section). if some java expert is reading this, could you please email me? i'll email you the script and you can tell me how to get it to work. if i use it now, it collapses my table into one mush and layers it on top of the page, which is really wierd. thanks.

harry potter mania!: arrrgh! when will it stop? who lines up at midnight to buy a damned book? and i thought it was lame to stand online at midnight to get cds.

it's not helping my harry potter issues that there's a harry potter blog, either.

chelsea clinton smokes weed!: i don't know if that's true, but i bet it is. i'd smoke weed too if my parents were those people. i'd smoke a lot more than weed, actually.

what the hell?, part v: is this guy for real or what?

link stolen from my friend chris, who does the crs website over to the right. this link isn't on his webpage, but read it anyhow.

long titles, part ii: i reckon "pimpin' iman facial products" is a much more ridiculous name that at current, don't you? i prefer this title because i like watching people screw it up in their links (twice now). i'm not complaining, because i like it, so don't get offended.

but maybe i'll change it to pimpin' iman just to see the response. for a day, see.

chelsea clinton: fiend smoker: okay, like, this is not in this story. but i just heard it on extra so i know it's true. chelsea clinton smokes like a mother fuck. and ever since this rumor came out, she went from being dragged out daily to her demon mother's press conferences to being hidden again. what the fuck is up with that?

another hunky bachelor list???: this one brought to you by jane magazine. they don't have it up on their website - yet - but it has six different covers, each featuring a different uberhunk.

one of which is snoop dogg.

yeah, i'm befuddled too.

hockey player screws over comic book writer: former st. louis blues player tony twist was awarded $24 million by a jury in his lawsuit against todd mcfarlane, creator of the spawn comic books, because one of his comic characters is named antonio twistelli.

and that's it. that's the only thing that's been done. the character isn't an evil hockey player or some such. his name sounds somewhat similar to a real person's. there are absolutely no other similarities. this is worth $24 million out of some comic's hands? this hockey man (and i'm sorry, hockey men are the worst. too many blows to the head) feels that this is pain and suffering worth a monetary compensation? what is wrong with this world?

hell, i've had an actual character named after me too, and my character does a naughty thing. i'm not suing my friend though.

it's not that long of a title: anyhow, judging by the things stuy keeps claiming on his website, i might be the only person who likes him, but i do. so there. anyhow, david bowie's alright but he's getting a touch old looking. still not as old looking as he actually is but still. i suppose compared to the other idols of his "time" he looks fantastic, and really that's all i'm about to ask of him.

how about iman? she's truly fabulous, and quite frankly, sign me up for her cosmetics line if it'd keep me looking that young at like, what, 80? she looks great. she has this great product out called matte that actually works to keep your face unsticky and oily even in high humidity. her lipsticks are great too. go buy iman cosmetics, and live the good life.

britney's museum: at girls on, they're having a spirited debate over britney spears. best comment: "britney definently [sic] deserves her museum...think about it...if it weren't for her none of these record companies would've signed people like christina, mandy, and jessica". and this is considered a bad thing?

second best comment: someone called KoRnprinzess (i used the capitalization for a completely different effect than the girl is probably going for) says that britney does not deserve a museum because she's a "horrible singer and a little slut". that didn't stop jfk from getting a whole airport named after him.

the proliferation of photos on the 'net: i don't know why i found this interesting but i did. they're right, you know: people are becoming popular because they put their pictures on the web (see: blogstreet boys - i like jerwin's design, but goddamn, what is this about?). for all any of us know, these aren't even real photos. but everyone loves photos...why? because you think you have a chance with someone simply cuz they, too, have nothing better to do than be online all day?

case in point: i know this girl from bbsing from a long while back. she put her photo all over the place. she's a good-looking chick. and the mostly-male group on the bbses all adored her. nevermind the fact that she was cruel, blatantly rude, obnoxious, overly opinionated, and outwardly tortured these guys. she was cute. abusive, but cute. she'd flirt with these pathetic guys, guys that she would tell everyone that she hated, guys that she'd post publically that she hated, and they'd come back for more. did they honestly think they had a chance? she'd drop her boyfriend, and of course she had one, to go live with an internet geek a world away who thought she was cute?

what the fuck is that? this is why i don't want my picture online. i want people to like me for what i have to say. granted, my tag line is all about boobs, but that's really just to get hits (i'm not going to tell you my bra size, so there). that girl i mentioned was also a very smart girl and often a funny girl. but none of those guys knew that. that's exactly what i don't want out of my internet experience, and quite frankly, i think anyone who feels the same way should pull their photos from their site.

replace them with photos of cate blanchett and russell crowe. i won't complain.

what the hell?, part v: i found this while browsing poke-friends (they have real links you know). everyone needs to read this once. it's quite touching.

selectsmart.com wants you!: is it me or is this site useless? if you're this stupid that you need to take a quiz to find out what your political views are and what party is nearest to your heart, then you're probably too stupid to be online enough to find this site.

p.s. i updated my playlist page, dammit.

lil' kim debuts at #4 while eminem inexplicably stays at #1: this bothers me for many reasons. first of all, it bugs me that things like kim are considered music (eminem to public: "i'm joking!" eminem ten days later in restaurant to said kim: "stick 'em up bitch while i bust a cap in yo' ass, word to ya mutha"). but more importantly, it bothers me that lil' kim is one of the few major rap releases not to make it to #1. my theory is this: lil' kim is a chick. obviously. and she's black. again, somewhat obviously.

my theory is this, again: people don't like young chicks, particularly ethnic ones, saying anything more harsh than the vile noise that is destiny's child. for example, madonna's record sales fell the sexier / sluttier she got, while new "wholesome" / boring madonna gets huge sales and critical esteem. it's alright for eminem to want to murder the mother of his child; it's not okay for lil' kim to say "suck my dick".

end of rant. i bought her cd today. it's great, with the exception of the few puffy appearances and a drag or two. most of all, it's fun to dance to.

just don't play it at work.

"monkey boy" not pleased by noel's departure: can i say "duh" to this one too, or is that too many dull, short posts for one day?

the article is worth reading just for liam's civilized "something was said" comment versus noel's "monkey boy" comment.

french hate rape: not the actual act, but a film called rape me. apparently, it's sort of an ultra-violent thelma and louise where two women fuck and murder their way across france. france's own super-right-wing organization (and you thought they were all blowsy sluts in france) protested the film's 16+ rating and now the film has been pulled by the high court or some such from theatres. about 20 theatres are still showing the film, and some french arts societies are protesting the censorship.

bruno megret, who is the leader of the far right republican movement, congratulated the high court sorts for "blocking the film's attempts to undermine our civilized values". doesn't it seem much easier and democratic and civilized to ignore the art forms you feel "undermine" your values rather than to impose your belief system on everyone else?

so don't sit there all high and mighty thinking things are any cooler in europe, kids.

the ultra-serious russell crowe poll: results are in, you lot want to see...jonathon taylor thomas do it with russell? huh. he won with a sizable margin - 57% of the vote. samuel l. jackson came in second. poor shannon doherty got no votes at all.

new poll at the bottom, inspired by entertainment weekly's yearly it list, which always sucks. let's do our own, shall we? scroll down to the bottom and vote!

pearl jam kills people: and now we have proof.

seriously, though, i can't decide whether i'm happy that there are nine less pearl jam fans on the planet or if i'm sad people had to die for us to realize the detrimental impact on society that is pearl jam.

look, i'm kidding, don't email ambush me, pearl freaks.

mike piazza, leading vote getter?: mike piazza was the nl's leading vote getter in all-star voting. this is wierd and i just won't elaborate any further.

in other news, the braves now have five people on the all-star team. did they distribute the majority of ballots in atlanta or something?

i think i figured it out now: okay, that's a link to this here very page so don't click it unless you want to see a vortex. so, i figured it out and i have changed my webpage to be a fortune city site, which seems to work out better. and i'm still going to email the other one because their ads were eating my site alive. this one works much nicer.

i feel the need to ask the question: since when did promoting yourself become more important than the stability of your users? i understand the need to promote yourself in order to make money, but if your users all leave because your method of promoting is intrusive (geocities) or destroys the rest of the page (freeservers), what's the point? yes, yes, i hear you rich people screaming now: why don't you join a webservice and get a real webpage? because i don't mind the ads (not to mention it's really not something i want to spend several hundred a year on, plus the cost of my own computer - i work on these things all day, i don't want one in my house). it's just that these sysops need to do it right.

so i saw the perfect storm: ...like the rest of the planet, apparently. i really liked this film. it was not perfect, but it kept my attention and kept me entertained. the cast was uniformly good.

one problem with the film: the land sequences got a little slow moving at times - the dialog wasn't great, so there were a few bits in the beginning where i wondered when the action was going to start. also, i could've done without the subplot of the people on the yacht; i think that was just thrown in to up the action early on, but it had little to do with the film, other than to kill off the rescue effort late in the film (sorry if i'm spoiling anything). other than those two things, it was pretty enjoyable. i recommend it.

if this doesn't make george clooney a bona fide film star (why out of sight and three kings didn't is beyond me), i don't know what the hell to do.

my least favorite holiday: i hate the forth of july. it's a pointless excursion in loud noises and overeating. i hate having to visit my family (in case you were wondering why there were no updates), and i hate fireworks, and i hate barbequed food. it blows.
