Sitaram: If you like you can visit my website on Hinduism

Little_lulu: ok

Sitaram: hold on

Little_LuLu: I was just curious

Little_LuLu: ok

Sitaram: Sure.. lots of folks are

Sitaram: I can also give you some great URLS to other informative sites

Little_LuLu: ok

Sitaram: Click here: A Hindu Dream - seeing GOD - Page 1

Sitaram: I also emailed the url for your convenience and future reference

Little_LuLu: ok thanks

Little_LuLu: So do you believe in god

Sitaram: Yes... Hindus believe that God is One.. but with a Trinity of three aspects.. Bramha, Vishnu, and Shiva... Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer

Sitaram: Also.. we believe that God becomes Man.. like the Incarnation Jesus.. but we believe it has happened more than once

Little_LuLu: So you don't believe in the God I believe in

Sitaram: I also emailed you a number of different urls on Hinduism

Little_LuLu: ok

Little_LuLu: More than once?

Sitaram: Well.. most Hindus would say Jesus is God.. but... they also believe Krishna is incarnation... and Ram... so.. same.. but different

Little_LuLu: Well Jesus is God

Little_LuLu: and do you believe in the Holy Spirit

Sitaram: Yes... more than one time.. when God chose to take human birth..... but for us. ... God is so powerful.... that He can do anything any time He wants...

Little_LuLu: so you think that jesus is here on this earth now, in someone

Sitaram: well.. for Hindus.. certainly God can be a spirit.. God can appear as a Dove.... yes... Hindus certainly believe God is Holy spirit

Little_LuLu: Well of course he's in everyone

Little_LuLu: but in human form

Little_LuLu: Well how is being a Catholic different from your religion

Sitaram: Well... there are some people who believe that there are incarnations on earth now.. but.. it is a very personal matter of belief... some believe that sai Baba is a God-Man... he is in India now..in his 70's I think

Little_LuLu: Ohhhhh I think I know who you are talking about

Little_LuLu: So you believe there is satan

Sitaram: Well.... hmmm.... there are many similarities.... no... Hindus do not believe in a satan or a hell... or eternal torment

Little_LuLu: Are you serious

Sitaram: That is one big difference .. I guess

Little_LuLu: So you don't believe there's a hell

Little_LuLu: Wow

Little_LuLu: So there's a heaven?

Sitaram: Yes... certainly.... the concept of satan and hell.. is very recent in history... Christianity is a young religion

Little_LuLu: Yea

Sitaram: Even... early Judaism and Old Testament.. didn't have a notion of hell and satan...

Sitaram: Only ... later Judaism.. later old testament.. after... the Captivity of Jews in babylon

Little_LuLu: So you don't think that the evil in people is satan

Sitaram: Hinduism existed for more than 1000 years before Jesus...

Little_LuLu: Yea it's being human but the satan works within people

Sitaram: No.... people have good and evil... but it has nothing to do with a satan figure... in our beliefs

Little_LuLu: I got ya

Little_LuLu: So where do you think you will go after you die

Sitaram: Well... if you keep thinking about satan.. then.. of course satan takes on a reality.. but.. then... the problem is.. people sometimes STOP TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for their own actions.. and blame everything on "the devil made me do it"

Little_LuLu: yes I agree

Little_LuLu: But that's where temptation comes in

Sitaram: Well.. for Hindus... we are born over and over .... again and again.. until our soul is purified... and rebirth is no longer necessary

Little_LuLu: So , you are saying after you die, you will be reborn

Sitaram: So.. in Hinduism AND in Buddhism... all souls eventually get saved..... and.. go to heaven so to speak.. except... we really dont talk about heaven in the way that Christianity and Islam do

Little_LuLu: Well why

Sitaram: By the way.. just curious.. how old are you??? I am male.. age 50

Little_LuLu: 17\f\nj

Sitaram: I see... I want to be careful not to disturb the religious beliefs of a young teenager.. but 17 is almost adult... so I guess its ok...

Sitaram: if you were 12... id be more... concerned.. not to confuse you

Little_LuLu: no, my beliefs are solid

Little_LuLu: I totally know the difference

Sitaram: You understand.. I have to be careful and ask if im talking to a young impressionable child... since it is the parents duty to teach religion

Little_LuLu: before know as red hook

Sitaram: but 17 is really an adult already

Little_LuLu: I totally understand your concern

Sitaram: I see....

Little_LuLu: yes it is

Little_LuLu: you see...

Sitaram: there is a wonderful book... 2 wonderful books at Barnes and Noble...

Little_LuLu: oh ok

Sitaram: one is World Religions by Huston Smith

Sitaram: paperback

Little_LuLu: ok

Sitaram: you will find that very interesting on all major religions... Christianity.. Islam.. Hindu, Buddhist

Little_LuLu: Well thanks

Sitaram: the other is A SURVEY OF HINDUISM by Klaus Klostermaier SUNY PRESS

Sitaram: Paperback... 600 pages...

Little_LuLu: So do you believe in Mary

Little_LuLu: Wow

Sitaram: Those two will provide lots of good information...

Little_LuLu: Jesus's mother

Little_LuLu: Thanks that'll be cool

Sitaram: Yes... Hindus... believe that Mary is very Holy... and Hindus have a believe in what is called the Divine Mother.... which is the Feminine aspect of God.. but.. very similar to Virgin Mary...

Sitaram: you see.. Roman Catholics and Hindus actually have a surprising amount in common.. but Protestants are very very different from Rom. Catholics and Hindus...

Little_LuLu: but mary and jesus are two different people

Sitaram: well.. our beliefs are SIMILAR.. but not IDENTICAL

Little_LuLu: what do Protestants believe in

Little_LuLu: I understand

Sitaram: But we Hindus certainly see Mary as holy and ok to pray to...

Sitaram: and we certainly see statues as ok in worship...

Sitaram: and... we believe in celibacy.. like priests and nuns who dont marry

Little_LuLu: yes, some religion think us Catholic worship Mary, but we don't, we honor her

Sitaram: so... many common points....

Little_LuLu: statues?

Little_LuLu: isn't that fake gods

Sitaram: also.. a wonderful book on Christianity....

Little_LuLu: see Catholics can't do that

Sitaram: no.. statues of Jesus... statues of Mary...

Little_LuLu: ohhhhhhhh

Little_LuLu: I understand

Sitaram: thats what protestants dont like about Roman Catholics

Little_LuLu: what

Sitaram: and.. we also have rosary beads for prayers...

Little_LuLu: cool

Sitaram: yes.. protestants dont like Catholics.. because they have statues in churches... but..... hindus.. think this is ok...

Sitaram: and Protestants dont like rosary beads... but Hindus like prayer beads...

Little_LuLu: ohhhhh

Sitaram: now.. another good paperback.. is "The History of Heresy".... by David Christie-Murray.... also a paperback....

Little_LuLu: it's weird because everyone has a different belief and they think theirs is right

Little_LuLu: I guess that's where faith comes in..

Sitaram: This describes the history of different beliefs in Christianity over the 2000 year history

Little_LuLu: I wonder when Jesus will come back to earth

Sitaram: and... another author to look for is Jaroslav Pelikan... who wrote a nice book on the Virgin Mary...

Little_LuLu: I hope he comes when I am alive, although I doubt is

Sitaram: and.... also... a five volume paperback history of Christian Tradition: History and Development of Doctrine...

Sitaram: These last two authors.. are very scholarly.. so.. reading is a bit advanced.... college level or beyond.... but... very good books

Little_LuLu: ok thanks

Little_LuLu: So what nationality are you

Sitaram: I am of dutch ancestry... american born nyc

Little_LuLu: ohhh got ya

Little_LuLu: ok i'm italian and polish

Sitaram: as of 1994 statistics... there were 1 billion roman catholics...

Little_LuLu: wow

Sitaram: and only 700 million non catholic christians

Little_LuLu: I guess you don't like the pope or don't care for him

Sitaram: so.... Roman Catholic is the single largest Christian Denomination

Sitaram: I like the Pope.. and also Mother Theresa.. I think they are possible saints

Little_LuLu: yes I think they will be

Sitaram: and.. I always speak in defense of Roman Catholic Church... against an protestant criticisms that I might hear

Little_LuLu: they will never be another Mother Theresa

Little_LuLu: well thanks

Sitaram: Many Hindus hold Mother Theresa as a great saint and holy person...

Little_LuLu: Cool

Sitaram: Your welcome.... hope you enjoy all the different web sites
