If one carefully scrutinizes the history of the Christian world for the past 2000 years.. one realizes that they are no more moral or ethical or loving that the non-christian peoples.. in fact in many ways (in view of the Holocaust and the Inquisition)...Christian peoples are less peaceful or loving or moral than Buddhist and Hindu nations.
Of course, St. Paul didn't have the advantage of being able to look back on two thousand years of history of Christian Nations...
Worship under threat of eternal punishment is no different from sex when a gun is pointed to your head... its called RAPE.
In fact.. it makes sense ... that if eternal punishment were unavoidable by God.. that God would CONCEAL that fact... to encourage sincerity in faith and worship.
And since God has Omniscient foreknowledge of all future events.... if TRUE DOCTRINE were so important... then.. God.. foreknowing the various disputes regarding Trinity or Christ's Divinity.. or Transubstantiation of the Eucharist... God would have inspired scriptural verses to elimate doubts and disputes on key doctrines.
Would you really want to lower yourself to worship a God who tortures for all eternity with no hope of reform or repentance.
If the message of the new testament was so crucial... why would God wait THOUSANDS of years to reveal it... or for that matter.. wait hundreds of years after Hinduism and Buddhism.. to reveal the truths of the Old Testament.
Since Hinduism and Buddhism were well established during the lifetime of Jesus... (Buddhism for 600 yrs and Hinduism for 1500)... and since Jesus is both Man and God, and therefore, All-Knowing... then why is there not one single mention of Buddhism or Hinduism..or their falsehood... in any of the Gospels... since even the DECEPTION AT THE END TIMES is mentioned...???
Obcession with thoughts of racial superiority stem from deep seated feelings of inferiority... and self-doubt
Just as constant anti-gay talk... reveals homophobia.. and repressed homosexual tendancies within the phobic individual
I suppose all hatred of any sort thrives on a component of fear
I suppose the hate and aggression of Islam and Christianity towards other faiths stems from self-doubt and uncertainty
Every prayer is answered... but sometimes... the answer is "NO"
The best thing anyone could ever ask for ... is to be freed from the bondage of desires...
