three students once came to the famous rabbi Bal Shem TOv.. and he asked them... What would you do if you knew you would die in six months

so the first student said... "I would go to Jerusalem to the Wailing Wall and pray continuously... the second one said.. no.. the journey would waste valuable time.... I would go to my room.. and begin to pray continuously...

the third remained silent and the first two assumed he had nothing to say...

but when questioned by the Rabbi... the third said.. "Why I would continue with my job.. and my normal daily schedule....

So the Rabbi said... "This third answer is best....

.... for if we cannot find holiness and meaning in our moment to moment daily existence...

we shall not find it in Jerusalem.. or anywhere.

Bal Shem TOv (whose name means "Master of the Good Name") said...

"G-d has hidden His light in this world.... find it ... and you will see to the ends of the universe"

in The Song of Songs... by Solomon.... around Ch 3.. I think.. it says... "My beloved comes down from the mountain..

.... He looks out the window... and peeks through the cracks of the shutters...

in Jewish mystical theology... "looking out the window"... is when the Divine Presence (Shekhina)... manifested periodically as a cloud in the Holy of Holies...

but after the destruction of the Temple... the "looking out of the cracks of the shutters"......

... that is the "sparks"... of the Light of G-d... hidden in the world....

In Proverbs... "A word of Wisdom...fitly spoken ... is like an apple of GOLD in fittings (a fine screen)... of SILVER.....

from a distance... it appears as a Silver apple...

as we approach more closely... a glint,.. a spark... of Gold is seem

as we meditate upon the apple... and comprehend it... we realize it for what it is... a GOLDEN apple.. concealed with in a silver casing....

but... in our meditation.. and comprehension... we too are transformed

kalliniki: Want to talk?

SITARAM: yes

kalliniki: Are you fermilier with mysticism and/or magick?

SITARAM: I know what it is... every religion as a mystical division... and a non-mystical division...

kalliniki: Does Hinduism permit mysticism?

SITARAM: well... most of hinduism is mysticism... actually... whereas most of Islam for example.... is non-mystical...

SITARAM: Judaism is 40/60 mystical non mystical

SITARAM: christianity is 70/30% mystical vs non mystical

kalliniki: I'm happy to learn that Hinduism is not as close-minded as Conventional Christians.

SITARAM: when a sacred scripture says... "its good to do charity".... that is non-mystical

kalliniki: I don't understand its point.

SITARAM: when a sacred scripture said "God appeared in an Infinite FOrm... radiating light .. and said 'its good to do charity' ..." ... that is mystical

kalliniki: Oh, I see. Are you ofa mystical division or not?

SITARAM: I am fairly mystical... my website is fairly mystical...

kalliniki: Oh. I am a psychic, divinationist, an a healer. I am currently lerning Celtic magick.

SITARAM: dont spread yourself too thin... perhaps your time would be better spent by carefully... methodically reading the Bhagavad-gita.... and maybe alteranate with reading one of the Gospels.... like Gospel of John

SITARAM: remember... those things which attract and absorb our attentions to "I am this... I am that..." "I, Me, My".... such things and activities distract us AWAY from God and the Divine...

kalliniki: I don't understand the point of your statement. When I say those pronouns, Iam just giving distinction to the numerous parts of me.

SITARAM: my statement is still true... not only for you .. but for all people... human nature in general... it has little to do with your actual words that you use....

SITARAM: I am not looking at your words... I am looking at YOU... with my spiritual eye...

SITARAM: (now.. that is mysticism... what I just said)..

kalliniki: Yes.

SITARAM: many young people are easily distracted by the SELF... the I , Me , MY...

SITARAM: it is part of being young...

SITARAM: a natural part of the process of growing, maturing.. is becoming "self-less"...

kalliniki: Nay- I seek liberation from karma and perfect union with God.

kalliniki: And only through my errors can I become free of them.

SITARAM: well... that desire will be better served... at this time in your live.... if you divide your spare time and energies between carefully reading the Gita... and say the Gospel of John...

SITARAM: save those other things you mentioned for when you have finised college... and are in your 20's.... that is... if you still find them interesting then...

kalliniki: But I must also practice my musical instuments. I cannot now just abandon my embrace of mystic practices. People ask me if I have a life; wha tdoes that indicate...I wonder!

SITARAM: you will find sufficient "mystic practices"... in simply reading the Gita... and the Gospels ... carefully... for the next year or so...

SITARAM: if you listen to other people... asking "do you have a life"... and it makes you pause and wonder.. or if you care what they think.. it may mean that you dont "have a life".. since it is THEIR opinion of you that is important to you.. and not what you do daily...

kalliniki: But would it be so wrong to somewhat juggle mysticism, the Gita and the Gospels, and other aspects of my life. I cannot just throw myself into something. I have to have a balenced lifestyle.

SITARAM: if you read the books I mentioned.. thoughfully.. carefully.. and meditate upon what they say.. your interior, mystical, spiritual life will begin to grow each day

kalliniki: Yes- in addition to what I already do. I use mysticism to get close to Jesus and Vishnu daily. My mystic pracftices shall coexist harmoniously with the divine doctrines.

SITARAM: well.. at the beginning of our conversation you mentioned that you are learning Celtic mysticism... healing.. and divination.. and... that didnt seem to bother you one bit.. as "juggling... or throwing your self into something.. or imbalanced"...

SITARAM: but suddenly.. when I mention reading two small books... regularly.. methodically... then you start worrying about "jumping.. and juggling... and balanced life"...

kalliniki: By "juggling", I mean dealing with or having a handle on all the aspects of my life.

SITARAM: well.. isnt quietly patiently reading Gita or Gosple.. in your spare time... easier and more balanced than... healing.. divination.. Celtic Magick??

kalliniki: I read the Gita daily. I randomly pick an exerpt and read it. Then I mediatate on it before going to bed each night. I also do the same with the Gospels and Pslams.

SITARAM: well.. then I think you are doing sufficient things.. and you can dispense with the divination, healing, and Celtic Magick... until you are older .. and have completely master the things you are reading now...

kalliniki: I enjoy practicing mysticism, and reading the sacred doctrines.

SITARAM: that is good...
