Obituary of Jesse
Carmichael
May 31, 1903 - August 31, 2000
Yesterday one we loved and knew stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room,
and not a stepping out of the fellowship of life. It was but a stepping into one of the other rooms of our Father's House. Jessie is at peace
with God now and rejoicing in her happy heavenly home.
We must not mourn as those without hope, for Jessie has gone to get the great reward promised to all who faithfully serve our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jessie was the thirteenth child of fourteen children born to Miles and Ellen Carmichael on May 31,1903 in Sylacauga, Alabama
all of whom have preceded her in death. She was married to Moses
Avery who also preceded her in death. To this union no children were born, but she raised Sherry and Wynette, children of her late brother
James "J.C." Carmichael.
She was a long-standing member of Wesley Temple A.M.E.
Zion Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board. In 1979,
she relocated to Jacksonville, North Carolina to live with Sherry and
her family.
The memory of her love will be eternally engraved in the hearts
of her family daughters, Sherry (William) Scott of Jacksonville, North
Carolina and Wynette Simmons of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters,
Catrina (Hector) Scott Colon, Rachel Scott and Stephanie Scott of
Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Melvena Perkins of Akron, Ohio;
grandsons, William Scott III of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Jason Carmichael of Akron, Ohio, great-grandson, Andre' Shephard; and a
host nieces, nephews, and friends.
THE VOICE OF HER SOUL
Don't grieve for me, nor be filled with sorrow.
I have entered a land where there'll be no tomorrow.
I have come to the end of life's weary way
And I'm resting now in an endless day |
