THE DOCKMASTER'S MANIFEST

The SFC2 Dockmaster's Manifest page is the place to look for helpful tips, suggestions and miscellaneous stuff related to Starfleet Command

Using the Volume2 Strange New Worlds in SFC2

The plan for the Volume 2 planets was that they would be used in "special edition" versions of future scenarios but there is a way you can use them in the game right now. Many of the vol2 planets can be easily added into sfc2 by simply copying the new planet's skin files into into directory of a specific in game planet (since their .mod models are the same). Be sure to back up the original skins in case you want to replace them again (think of them like the replaceable textures on this site-you can change the planets each time you play the game). Here's a list of which planet skins can go into which planet directory:

Jupiter planet: copy new .bmps to the C:\Program Files\Taldren\Starfleet Command II\Assets\MODELS\PlanetJupiter directory
New Class A Planet

Saturn Planet: copy the new .bmps to the C:\Program Files\Taldren\Starfleet Command II\Assets\MODELS\PlanetSaturn directory
New Class B Ringed Planet

PlanetTemperate: copy the new .bmps to the C:\Program Files\Taldren\Starfleet Command II\Assets\MODELS\PlanetEarth directory
New Class D Primordial Planet
New Class E Ancient Class M Planet
New Class F Large Mercury Planet
New Class G Super High Gravity Planet
New Class H Oceania Planet
New Class I "On the Edge" Planet
New Class J Venus Type Planet
New Class K Domed Colony Planet
New Class K Terraformed Planet
New Class L Mars Type Planet
New Class M Planet
New Class O Ice Planet
New Class U Dead Planet
New Class Y "Hell" Planet
New Class z Rogue Planet

The Docmaster's Manifest List

I thought I would include a complete (I hope!) list of all of the changes made to SFC2 if the models on this site are installed according to the installation instructions. This real "Dockmaster's Manifest" is useful in that you'll know the which ship classes that have been changed so you'll know which ship is which during the game. You can get the list by clicking here

New Fan Ship .exp Stats

There are number of new & unique ships from other SFC Modders from the net that I've installed in my copy of SFC2 that I think are great additions to the game. A number of ships on this site have all new ship stats on ShipEdit .exp files that are included in their respective zip files so you can easily add them to your SFC2 spec file. But I also made .exp ship stat files for ships not on this website. Click here to get them. Below is a list of the ship .exps in the zip file:

At Rick Knox's Starfleet Tactical Simulator
Klingon D-10 Battlecruiser
Klingon L-24 "Ever Victorious" Battleship
Klingon D-18 Gull Destroyer
Klingon K-23 "Little Killer" Escort
Klingon K-15 L'rexa Gunboat

At Cleeve's Staryards
Klingon L-9 Sabre Class Frigate

I followed their original stats as closely as possible so they would be true to their original form. Special thanks to Will Barris for providing the Fasa ship stats for me! Their stats couldn't have been done without his help!

New Fan Ships Stats Txt files

Below are the ship stats in text file form. Just click on the name of the ship to download their new SSD stats txt files.

Federation Andor Class Missile Cruiser
Federation Baker Class Destroyer
The Juggernaut Monster (search for juggernaut on the page, the Juggernaut Dreadnought would be the best fit, also the original SSD for the Juggernaut appeared in the first issue of Nexus magazine, an old gaming magazine from the early 80's.
Federation Missouri Class Battleship
The Space Dragon Monster
Romulan Stormbird Heavy Cruiser
Klingon "Warrior's Anger" Command Cruiser

MISSING KZINTI SHIPS IN SFC2!

Joseph Uzel contacted me to let me know that there are some missing kzinti ships in SFC2 believe it or not. Specifically, they're the C refit series mentioned in the SFB Captain's Edition Basic Rules on p. 171 (R5.50). If you really want to have all of the Kzinti ships you can add these refits to the spec file by using the "add new ship" button. You can designate the C-refits with "+" and the Y175 rack refits with "++"

USING SFC2 WITH FEDERATION & EMPIRE

Joseph Uzel also mentioned a really cool idea for using SFC2 in conjunction with the SFB Federation & Empire game. He and his gaming club have a set up going where they actually resolve the combat turns by playing them on SFC2 Orion Pirates (in this case) via 3-4 computers networked together! It's a really great idea if you ask me and it really speeds the F&E game from what I'm told. The only other thing you'd need to do is enter all (gulp!) of the SFB SSD ships into the SFC spec file using the "add new ship" button, although I think there's a limit of 64 ships per race (but I'm not totally sure on that). Then you can select the ships you need in the multiplayer skirmish and you're ready to go. Again, a really good idea if you ask me!

RECOMMENDED SSDs FROM STAR FLEET BATTLES

There were a number of ships from SFB that were noticably abscent from SFC1 & SFC2. The following is a list of those missing ships that can be added to your copy of SFC2 by using the Eagle Eye ShipEdit program.

Gorn Battle Tug
Klingon D-7Z Phaser Battlecruiser (which appeared in Captain's Log #13)
Klingon D-7Y Drone Battlecruiser (which appeared in Captain's Log #13)
Klingon D-6F Anti-Fighter Cruiser (which appeared in Captain's Log #13)
Klingon D-6Y Semi Carrier (which appeared in Captain's Log #13)

SOURCES OF SFB SSDs

Of course you can still get all of the Star Fleet Battles Modules from the ADB or local hobby shops that carry them but there are other sources out there. If you don't mind old, used copies of SFB, check out Ebay or if you have a local used book store they might have some SFB stuff there as well. Another thing to try is to ask a local hobby shop if they have a list of any local SFB clubs or SFB gamers. Chances are good that they'll have a number of modules already that you can check out. And remember the benefits of gaming clubs like that. For example club members can donate money towards the purchase of new Rpg items & so you can get more modules than you would have by yourself.
