The Last Dinner Menu
This is a replica of the menu from the first class dining saloon on
the night of April 14, 1912. Dinner on that sunday evening was thought to
be the most lavish of the voyage thus far. Women wore their Paris gowns,
and fresh flowers and fruit baskets adorned the tables. During the eleven
course meal, the waiters circulated with silver serving platters and offered
diners something from every dish. In true Edwardian Style,
this menu offers a wide assortment of rich, high calorie fare.
The Filets Mignons Lili, for example, is a filet mignon with buttery
wine sauce, topped with foie gras and truffles, set on a bed of
buttered potatoes and garnished with artichokes.
