"Quick!!" Xander scrambled out onto the porch ledge outside Buffy's window. As soon as he was out, the drapes were snapped shut behind him.

"Okay, just a little jump down to the ground..." Xander took a look downwards. It had to be at least twelve feet down to the ground. Plus three feet out if he wanted to clear the rosw bushes. "Need to gather my strength."

A knock sounded from inside, through the still-open, draped window. "Hey, honey?"

"Uhh... yeah mom?"

A door squeaked open. "Just checking. What are you up to?" A pause. "Are my eyes deceiving me or is Buffy Anne Summers actually doing her homework??"

"Uh... yeah. You know, never too early to tackle that biology assignment."

Xander shook his head. Definitely something strange was up. Maybe Amy would be able to shed some light on the situation - and willing to give him a straight answer.

#*B*#: (Sent as a high-energy, long-distance telepathic message.) //Xxanndderr performed as anticipated. Suspect he may next attempt to resolve the inconsistencies in my story with *A*. Do not respond. Message ends.//

The rest of the link considered what to do with this.

*T*: [If the serum of the Xxanndderr is this powerful, I should have some. It is my body that is enduring the metamorphosis to adult status. My need is greatest.]

*D*: [Infeasible. We are males, as is the Xxanndderr. What a male creature will do with a female, it will recoil from with another male creature.]

*T*: [But I feel the need. What use for the females to survive, if I never reach adult status. You cannot live forever as juveniles, and I doubt any of you can mature at this point...]

*W*: [Fools. The way around this problem is simple. *A*, *J*, attend me. The rest of you, attend to your creature lives.]

Xander walked up the sidewalk, shaking his head. Amy's dad had told him that she wasn't at home, but that she'd called to say she'd be working late at the school on a group project.

He couldn't help but think there was something strange about that. If Amy was working with the gang, why would she have called attention to it with her dad? And if not, what on earth was she doing?? The strangest idea went into Xander's head, that that message had actually been meant for him, so that he'd know where to find Amy if he tried her Dad's place. Now what could have posessed him to believe that??

The school loomed up quickly, and Xander headed in. Nobody in the library, which was strange in and of itself, but there was a note on the checkout counter. "X we're downstairs."

The big X on the top could have been just co-incidence, a way of 'crossing off' the message, but it seemed to be at least worth a try. Xander walked, with some trepidation, over to the stairs that led down to little rehearsal room beneath the auditorium. There was a corridor that led to other parts of the basement from there.

Xander didn't get a chance to try the corridor right then, though. As he hurried slowly down the stairs, the teenager noticed that the very blonde he was looking for was waiting on the landing for him. Amy Madison. The witch's daughter. Not that her mother being a terrifying psycho with super powers really had anything to do with Ame.

She was really quite an attractive girl, Xander noticed out of the blue. Ocean blue eyes full of mischief, california blonde hair, a sweet and pretty face with a slight trace of a devilish smile. And her figure - well, Xander remembered that the whole cheerleading witch incident had een started, in part, because Amy didn't want to diet, exercise, or train enough to make the squad, (or even to be a cheerleader for that matter,) like Mommy dearest, so Mommy had taken her place. But she certainly looked good enough to Xander, kind of couch potato chic. Not as skinny as a toothpick, but not chubby either, and with pleasant girl-like curves in all the right places.

Amy was dressed simply but charmingly in blue pants and a yellow t-shirt, and she raised a questioning eyebrow as Xander stepped down onto the landing to join her. "Uh, hi Xander," she said after a moment. "What's up??"

"Umm... I've been trying to find you," Xander decided to go with. "Buffy said something about a monster attacking you last night..."

"Oh, yeah," Amy replied quickly. "Thanks for your concern, but... I think Mister Giles has already killed the monster." Xander considered that for a second, none too believingly. "Or... he's going to? He set out about an hour ago with some of those big weapons he keeps in the library. DIdn't expect any trouble."

Well, that at least made a little more sense. "But... if Giles already knew about the monster... Buffy seemed to think it was really important that I carry a message to him about it."

"Buffy... wasn't there when we found out what kind of monster it was," Amy put in. "She may have found that out, and thought that Giles needed to know it too. But he already does."

"Buffy didn't even tell me a name!!" Xander groaned. "In fact, she hardly told me anything, but she acted as if..."

"Sssh..." Amy stepped closer to Xander, very close. Her fingers brushed almost against his, and the fragrance of her golden hair easily closed the gap between them. "Buffy's been under a lot of pressure lately, so it's not surprising if she's acting strangely." Xander had to nod his agreement to that, considering how else Buffy had been acting. "The important thing is, it's going to be okay."

Xander let out a relaxed sigh of agreement. "Say, I know something we can do to take your mind off the whole thing," Amy said brightly.

"Umm... what's that??"

"You could help me get ready for the kissing contest." Xander blinked in shock. "Yeah, I know, it's kinda immature, just a girl thing. I need a guy to kiss, though. Would that be okay??"

Xander's mind froze. Is the world really and truly going crazy?? he wondered. But... well, this wasn't as strange as Buffy coming on to him actually, it kinda made sense the way Amy put it. And who was he to disappoint a beautiful blonde. "Um, sure," he said, trying to sound suave. "Now, how should I go about this??"

"Just relax," Amy told him, a glint in her eye, "and let me do all the work." And then she was on him. Her soft lips against Xander's, sweet, delightful and tender. Then those lips peeked open and Amy's tongue licked his lips, asking without words to come in. When Xander went open-mouth too, Amy went into overdrive, frenching him, licking his teeth and gums, then going back to a little more usual lip-lock before disengaging. "And that's time. How did I do??"

"Pretty great! In fact, I'd be willing to say incredible," Xander commented. "When is this kissing contest, anyways??"

"Oh, the contest has already started," another voice put in. "Amy wasn't asking for your help with private training, she was hoping you could be our designated kissee - and our judge." Xander turned to see the newcomer, walking out of the rehearsal room.

It was Willow, but Willow like he'd never seen her before!!
