In the Fall of 1996, Col. decided to do something a little different. We took an extra day off of classes and work and probed a bit farther south of the Mason-Dixon line to study Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville, The Wilderness, and visit Washington D.C. This was, in most opinions, the most emotional trip of them all. We numbered a mere 25 and became a tight-knit group. It was the trip where the "core group" of the 93rd really became the "core veterans". We had all either been on trips before, or would go on future trips. A big part of that group are still close friends, and continue to go on trips, with or without Col. It was also the trip where we were forced to face the fact that everyone is mortal, even our beloved Col., and many a shoulder was cried on one night in Washington.
