In Praise of My God (Aum Namah Siva)
God is infinite in many varities and in all forms-- But God as Shiva is who called to me and holds My heart. I feel his presence all around me, In good times and bad-- watching over His naive Western child. I know not of the Eastern ways, but I Know he understands-- He holds it not Against me. I see myself in worship of Him-- In nature, on my knees, Head lowered in respect to Him. Then, looking skyward, I lift my Hands toward Heaven and open them-- The wind carries my offering of fresh Lotus petals straight to Lord Shiva. My eyes close and my head bows again, And I see Him smiling, as if He will Grant a boon in return. He waves His trident, as if to pass Over my head, and a light spring rain Falls upon my skin-- as if He is sending The Ganges' heavenly waters streaming from His hair, straight down to shower me with His blessings. I hear the beat of His drum as my heart Feels a tug, as if He would say "I have heard your prayer-- I will never Abandon you. I will always protect and Be with you, my precious child." Aum Namah Siva.
