We had quite an experience when we got home from church and lunch today.

Our chimney is not capped at the top, and the opening of our fireplace in the kitchen/family room is excessively large. There is a free hanging screen covering the front of the fireplace, and the damper is open.

We found the family room side full of feathers; and sure 'nuff, right in front of the hearth lay the intruder -- a bird that had been done in by our Attack Cat.

Sure am glad it occurred while we were gone! I might have tried to save the bird and been mauled by the Mad Cat of the North.

Gabby probably thought he was in Birdie Paradise having one come right into his home. Poor little bird. It appeared that Gab didn't eat his prey -- just attacked it all over the room while it was still moving. Poor, poor little bird.

I did notice kind of a smirk on Gab's puss when we came home. We think he was saying we should be so proud of his protecting our home from the intruder.

Gabby was exhausted this afternoon and curled up with me on the bed to take a couple hours of napping.

So it goes at the Turner mansion....... always something exciting going on.
