Signs your puppy is sick

The best of care will not prevent some illnesses from happening...not to mention accidents. Check your puppy often. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your vet.

  • Loss of appetite for more than 1 day.

  • Diarrhea or constipation or difficulty urinating. immediately take your puppy to the vet if he tries repeatedly to 'potty' and can't...or if you notice blood.

  • Vomiting. Immediately see your vet if your puppy vomits blood or something unusual.

  • Fever. Detect a fever by a dry, hot nose, dull eyes, and a rise in body heat. See your vet.

  • Pain. For serious or constant pain, see your vet.

  • Excessive panting or breathing heavy. If you notice a blue tongue, noisey respiration, or gasping for breath...see your vet IMMEDIATELY!

  • Coughing or sneezing.

  • Shaking the head. May be a sign of ear infection.

  • Limping.

  • Constant scratching or biting.

  • Aggressive behavior by a normally mild-tempered dog.

  • Listless or hiding.

  • Scooting on the ground.

  • Bad mouth odor.

  • Lump under the shin.

  • Dull hair.
